Mowgli is all about how Indians eat at home and on their streets. She was born to feed the raw need Indians have for tiffins full of fresh bright intense flavour. Mowgli is not about the intimate, hushed dining experience. It is about the smash and grab zing of healthy, light, virtuosic herbs and spices.

Mowgli Indian Restaurant on St Vincent Street in Glasgow offers a distinctive dining experience. Set within a beautiful historic building, the restaurant combines period character with a bright, modern interior. The dining space is arranged across different levels, creating an almost theatrical setting, with a tree feature branching from the floor and rope swing seats and benches suspended among hundreds of softly glowing glass jars.
Not feeling quite adventurous enough to try the swing seats, we opted for a bench and explored the menu, which offered a wide range of vegetarian options. Dishes are served in small metal tins (tiffins), and the menu includes street plates, sharing selections and the House Kitchen. Diners choose a number of dishes (or a set menu), and food is served as each item is ready rather than arriving all together. This can mean a slight delay between dishes, and we had to remind staff about one or two items, but overall it creates a relaxed and sociable sharing experience.
Highlights included the Yoghurt Chat Bombs — crisp puff breads filled with chickpeas, yoghurt and spices — and the tamarind-tossed potato cubes drizzled with a sticky, sweet spiced treacle and tamarind sauce. Other vegetarian dishes we particularly enjoyed were the warming chickpeas in a Darjeeling-spiced tomato and spinach sauce, along with the Temple Dahl, a comforting and flavourful Indian classic.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, from the sparkling interior to the colourful, flavourful food. We visited in the early evening when staffing levels were fairly light, but the team were friendly and helpful. While I cannot comment on the authenticity of the cuisine, it was certainly an enjoyable and memorable meal, and I would happily recommend a visit.

Interesting menu and excellent food, we really enjoyed it. The temple Dal and vegan keema were stand out. I loved that it had options in the menu far removed from the average UK Indian restaurant. The tastes were amazing. My one small criticism was I felt the paneer mutter tasted too strongly of cloves, the dish was delicious, but I feel cloves belongs in the background of the flavour spectrum. We will definitely be back!

Hi. Writing on behalf of my lovely fab family who came here for a meal on their Scottish trip I have been hearing about the “chat bomb” a lot which was brilliant. Atmosphere and service were amazing, the server Charleya was lovely. There was no spice sugar in my auntie’s margarita glass which she was thoroughly upset by But I’m sure this didn’t stop her drinking it. Everyone has said the biryani was a bit mid, so they wouldn’t get that again. Really lovely decor with trees inside the restaurant! I wonder how they plant trees in a restaurant.

Excellent food. Great service. Every dish was lovely. We had got the shared platters and got 5 Curries between 3 people but this was maybe a bit much for us but all the food was stunning and was nice to try the different dishes

I was really disappointed with the food, especially given the prices. I ordered the Goan fish curry, but it completely lacked the authentic flavors of India. It was overly sweet and sour, with no proper balance or richness from coconut cream, which is essential for this dish. I couldn’t tolerate more than a few spoonfuls. The lamb dish was just okay—I’ve definitely had much better elsewhere. Overall, the food felt overpriced and lacked depth and authenticity. I’m more than happy to pay a premium, but only when the flavors truly reflect genuine Indian cuisine.

Never been here before, so wasn’t sure what to expect, however, I have to say what a lovely restaurant. Atmosphere was perfect, as was the food. Weren’t initially sure about the swing seats, but they were actually very easy to sit on. We both really liked the layout of seating/tables which meant you weren’t crammed in like some other restaurants. Food and service was amazing, although like some comments, although it was made clear it was an option, I’m really not happy with the trend of adding an “optional” service charge. We left the server a separate tip despite this but will in future – because we’ll definitely be returning – ask for this to be removed.

Mowgli Restaurant in Glasgow is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is beautifully designed — warm, vibrant, and full of character — making it a joy just to sit and soak it all in. The food is bursting with flavour, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional table service — friendly, attentive, and effortlessly professional. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish!

Delicious food and a change from the usual ‘Indian’ fare. Good variety of mocktails. Service was relaxed and friendly. Decor is lovely and the swing seats are amusing. Good value for money.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Mowgli Street Food Glasgow — it’s one of those places you walk into and instantly feel excited about what’s to come.
The food was outstanding. Every dish was packed with flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The balance of spices was spot on — vibrant without being overpowering — and the variety meant there was something to surprise and delight with every bite. It felt authentic, comforting, and a little bit special all at once.
The service staff were exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. They took the time to chat, make recommendations, and check in without ever feeling intrusive. It’s clear they really care about creating a great experience, and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming.
The atmosphere is simply magical. The soft lighting, cosy seating, and buzzing yet intimate vibe create a space that feels both lively and comfortable. Whether you’re there for a casual meal or a special occasion, it strikes the perfect balance.
Overall, Mowgli Glasgow delivers on every level — delicious food, fantastic service, and a beautiful atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We ordered butter chicken and a Mowgli Special chicken with coconutmilk. Never get a small portion like this in an Indian restaurant – rice has to be ordered separately. Food was served before drinks – we tried two mocktails! Really yummy mocktails – food was okay but wasn’t hot. For sure the Ambiente is amazing and the reason we went there!
