This place exceeded our expectations. We went here for a late lunch and loved it. The place is cute and comfortable, but small, so space is limited. The service was friendly and kind, helpful, and attentive. The gentleman at the door was lovely! The food is the star of the show. We had a few starters and 2 main dishes followed by dessert and WOW! Every dish was just the right portion and packed with flavor. The mango sticky rice was devine and the best we ever had. Parking can be challenging if you go during their rush hour, and the entrance is a door facing the street covered by green foliage. We went on a Friday around 1:30PM and waited 20 minutes for a table, but noticed that after 2PM the crowd began to thin out. If you go during the week, go between 2PM and 5PM. Patio is cute and a great seating option during nice weather. We look forward to going back and trying more dishes, so we will be back for sure!

Visited Glai Baan while in Phoenix. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, and the service was warm and genuinely welcoming from the moment we walked in. Dan, the owner, greeted and seated us himself, setting the tone with heartfelt hospitality. It’s hard to believe this charming space was once a 1954-era Dairy Queen — the transformation is impressive and full of character. We tried several of the Thai dishes thoughtfully curated by Cat, Dan’s partner and a Bangkok native — each one soulful, beautifully balanced, and packed with authentic flavor. Overall, an absolute gem and a spot I’d return to without hesitation. Saluti

The most important thing for us was that they were open on Christmas Day.

We were on a layover in Phoenix and came across this wonderful and homely restaurant while browsing for lunch options.

1. Kanom Jeeb – 10/10
2. Grilled Chicken – 10/10
3. Kao Soi – 10/10

Our server – Bank, was one of the kindest people we’ve met. The restaurant has a fantastic vibe that is both vibrant and homely.

Go here for fantastic food and great service!

Finally! This place has been on my bucket list of restaurants to try forever! My friend and I were in area shortly after it just opened on a Thursday at 12:00 PM. At 12, there was ample parking, though I can only imagine the lack of parking during main dining hours. The restaurant is small with bar, main and patio seating. We were greeted by an extremely friendly staff. We chose to sit out on the patio. The place filled up fairly fast shortly after we arrived. All the servers were on top of taking orders, delivering food and clearing dishes along with checking up on you.

We ordered beers while looking over the menu. So many dishes I wanted to try, but it was the only 2 of us. We ended up ordering the Beef Salad, Shrimp Pad Thai and Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly. All the dishes were amazing, maybe the weakest was the Pad Thai. The Beef Salad and Chinese Broccoli were just heavenly. We will definitely be back for lunch when it opens or make a reservation for the evening. To note: my only negative is the flies in the patio area, even with the fly fans, didn’t help.

Atmosphere: small cute house. Service: excellent. Food: excellent.

I’ve had Glai Baan on my “must-visit” list for over a year after a friend’s recommendation, and I finally made it in for lunch this past Wednesday. We arrived shortly after they opened, and I was honestly surprised by how quickly the place filled up—definitely a popular spot for a reason!

We opted for the patio, which had a really chill, relaxed atmosphere. It was the perfect setting to hang out and enjoy the afternoon.

The meal was well worth the wait. We started with:
Green Papaya Salad: Bright, fresh, and hit all the right notes.
Moo Ping (Pork Skewers): Incredibly tasty and perfectly grilled.
For the entree, my wife ordered the Panang Curry. I’ll be honest: I initially thought it was a “boring” choice since every Thai restaurant serves it. I was wrong. The moment it hit the table, I realized this isn’t your average Thai spot. The beef was a generous, “prize” cut—slow-cooked to perfection and sitting in one of the richest curries I’ve ever experienced. Truly fabulous.
Final Verdict
Glai Baan lived up to the year-long hype. It’s now high on my list for a return visit so I can explore more of the menu. If you’re in the area, don’t skip this one!

Beautiful vibe especially when the sun is down. The food is incredible. The drink menu looks fantastic and the one I had was very nice. The panang was amazing. Will be coming back over and over again.

Thai-Cuisine-Experienced review:
Mind you – most famous and allegedly “best Thai” place in Phoenix, as I was told. Expectations were high.
What nobody told me (possible because they didn’t know better) – it is not authentic Thai flavors at all. It is, like many places in Phoenix, Americanized cuisine. Pad Kee Mao had zero wok hei. The Panang curry was neither Panang nor curry… Papaya Salad didn’t have spicy/sour flavors which it should.
And on top of all that – prepare to wait 1.5h++ on the waitlist, because literally everyone in Phoenix goes here and they don’t take reservations.
Don’t get me wrong – not a bad restaurant at all. But nowhere near its reputation. Lower your expectations and prepare to wait.

The food was so good! Not too sweet and the flavors amazing! I loved the charming atmosphere and the waiter was so accommodating. It is usually busy so just be prepared to maybe wait but the food is worth it!

Taste: I got the chicken Pad Thai, and the flavor was a 6 out of 10. I enjoyed it.
Quantity: I got about a cup to a cup in a half of food for my dinner serving. That’s pretty abysmal considering it cost $21.82. I posted a photo of a soda can for size comparison. It’s not at all worth the money. You will be left hungry. It’s like 2 slices of pizza in quantity… for $21.
Parking: There’s absolutely not enough parking to fit even half the seating capacity. You’re forced to park at adjacent businesses and risk being towed(there’s even a sign on the front door warning you could be towed).
Wait Time: Saturday at 6pm it was a 3 hour wait.
My verdict: If only for the value, I will never come back. I’d uber to avoid the risky parking situation. And certainly make reservations.

TLDR: Thai Street Food done right.

Honestly was really really good! Ambiance was super laid back (dug the music), and I liked the general decor / outside seating. Didn’t have to wait at all since I came for lunch (strategically, there are never dinner reservations apparently) and received my food in a reasonable amount of time, which were both appreciated!

Server was super nice and she recommended the grilled chicken app which was FIRE (the flavor and crispy texture were both incredible, as she said they would be). I was also feeling a bit nostalgic and got Khao Soi, which was really good (not quite as good as Khao So-i in Chiang Mai ofc, but that’s an insanely high bar). Def ate way too fricken much lol – hope to return one day!
