Picturesque gardenlike restaurant in La Fonda Hotel serving sophisticated New Mexican cooking.

We had a reservation, but still waited almost an hour for our table. We understand it was a busy night, and I am guessing they may have been short staffed based on our experience and what we witnessed. I was just having water with my meal and ended up drinking everyone’s water at the table and was not offered more until we were all done.
Having said that our server was quite dynamic and doing the best he could in the situation. He was pepped up on something, and very friendly and knowledgeable.
As far as the food, it was good, but not as exciting as I had hoped for. I had the schnitzel and it was more like chicken fried chicken in my opinion.
The lobster bisque was good, but not great. The chowder was cold (it did not say it was served cold), but it was flavorful and hearty.
The crab cake was ok, certainly not the best I’ve ever had.
Presentation was nice. And the flan was fabulous.
The building and history is cool and worth checking out. The whole visit was interesting, but I personally see no specific reason to return. I can say I’ve been there, done that, and nothing created a desire for me to go back.

We really enjoyed our dinner at La Plazuela. The food and service were excellent. It was just a bit loud, with an event happening / band playing in the upstairs part of the restaurant. I would happily go back and would definitely get the chips & guacamole and the chocolate torte again. A tip – the restaurant opens right at five pm for dinner and they will not seat parties early. If you have a 5pm reservation, get there 10 – 15 min early to check in, so you can be seated right when they open. There was a bit of a crowd already waiting to be seated when we arrived at 5. The staff moved fast to get everyone seated with a 5pm reservation, so we didn’t have to wait long.

The night started with an incredible dish that was made specially for me seeing as I cannot have guacamole. They bought out a special made chili con queso with chips and salsa. That was absolutely fantastic. It was the most unique chili con queso I’ve ever had. My husband got the fillet enchiladas with the Christmas sauce. I got The Chile rellenos with the spicy shredded beef. They were the best Mexican dishes we had ever had. For dessert we got the flan and tres leches. Chefs kiss. Do not skip on this place. The atmosphere and everything is intoxicating!

As a family of six, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the restaurant, which offers ample space and a welcoming environment for children. The establishment is clean, and the atmosphere beautifully reflects New Mexican culture.
I sampled the green rice with piñones and found it quite pleasing; the food overall was of good quality, and the prices were reasonable. However, what I enjoyed most was the homemade chocolate cake adorned with rich chocolate ganache.
I look forward to returning to explore more dishes from this delightful restaurant.

Wonderful ambience, beautifully decorated room with a high ceiling, lots of space. We were seated next to the fountain which was especially nice. Our server Edgar was very friendly. The osso buco and tamale were delicious!

Food was tasty and the margaritas were delicious. We ordered the GREEN CHILE MAC & CHEESE & BECK & BULOW GREEN CHILE CHEESEBURGER. The mac and cheese was good, but the burger needed a little less chiles and a sauce or aioli. But the environment was calming and decor was beautiful.

Gorgeous atmosphere, fantastic service and delicious food. I ordered the huitlacoche tamal and my friend ordered the steak frites, and we shared the tableside guac to start.
We both really enjoyed our meals. The host and server were so friendly and fun. Definitely worth trying if you’re staying in Santa Fe. My favourite dinner location of our three night Santa Fe stay.

If you’re tired from walking the historic plaza and gallery districts, stop into La Plazuela for courtyard dining. The setting is a world away from it all, with an artsy vibe that includes hand-painted glass tiles, a candle-surrounded fountain, and authentic historic charm. It’s hard to have a “light” lunch here, as the food is hearty and delicious, including the tortilla soup and chicken salad. The service was friendly and professional as well. A lovely way to find a relaxing break in your sightseeing day!

Amazing and beautiful food! Our server was super sweet and very helpful. I have food allergies and she answered all of my questions. I had the brisket tacos. They were flavorful and full of great textures. My boyfriend had the prawns which were juicy and great flavor also. The chips, salsa and guacamole are also delicious. The chips were thick, crunchy with just the right amount of salt.

The food was good. Nice servings. Three of us ordered the green chili enchilada. One has the Market steak. Everything was good. Food came out in a timely manner. We really enjoyed the house made guacamole *they bring a cart out and ask what you want in your guac*.
Service: umm. Service was not what I expected for a high priced restaurant. The staff seemed impatient. They boxed our left overs wrong and insisted one of my guests was wrong, turns out they gave my guess another person’s meal from another table. So I found that a bit odd.
Atmosphere: the atmosphere was nice. Dimly lit, a water fountain in the middle, nice foliage.
