I’ve never been to this location; I’ve always gone to the Phenix City location. However, I was kind of disappointed. The line was very long, but they seemed to have a good system as for efficiency, so the wait wasn’t as bad as expected. After receiving my food, I now know why. The first lady that put the meats on the plate was very patient and polite. The issue came from the second lady that added the sides; she just threw them on the plate with no care or concern for the extra juices and items mixing. I know all of the food will mix eventually; I just prefer they don’t until I have had the opportunity to taste them individually. The presentation was not that appetizing. Looks like slop, almost like something you’d feed a dog. I was greatly disappointed.

We had 4 plates total, I did not get a picture of the fried chicken, macaroni and collard greens. Two plates were the same baked turkey, dressing and collard greens.

I walked in, not knowing what to expect. I will walk out, knowing that I will definitely be back.
I decided to try the roast beef with rice, and chose peas with snaps and collard greens as my two sides. I asked for salt and pepper shakers, but after two bites of the food, I brought the shakers back to the counter because the food is so delicious that I didn’t need it. In fact, I’m still not done eating my meal because I wanted to go ahead and write this review. Super friendly staff, amazing serve time, and plenty of places to sit, and only cost about $15 for this very filling plate. Please, do yourself a favor and come enjoy a fantastic meal from this gem of a restaurant.

Long time customer of the Meatloaf Thursday. Today portion size is much smaller and lately someone is using a lot of Pepper in the Meatloaf and Vegetables.

Ed’s food looks presentable, but it didn’t have any flavor. For Soul Food, you would expect flavor. Maybe since i’m from NYC that i’m expecting to much from Ed’s, because there are a few Soul Food resturants in NYC that Ed’s just can’t matchup too, it didn’t have any flavor. I feel people go here because Soul Food resturants are slim to none in the area. You could eat the food if you need something to eat, it would satisfy your hunger, but it wouldn’t satisfy your taste buds. You will not lick your fingers after this meal.

29Oct2020. This restaurant is a soul food restaurant. The baked chicken was good. The black eyed peas and lima beans could have been seasoned more. The corn bread was great. My wife loved the cabbage and mac and cheese. The lady in the first food section was very informative of the meats selection. I will return to try again.

This is one of our favorite places to eat. It’s cafeteria style of all good home made food. The candied yams are one of my favorites and on Thursdays the pot roast is almost as good as mine. love the baked chicken mashed and gravy. Home made Mac n. Cheese. Heck it’s all delicious!

We used to eat at Ed’s frequently when wanting a home-cooked meal without cooking. We ate so much that we had to take a break. Something has changed after a few years has passed because the food isn’t as good, and doesn’t taste the same. Myself and husband had the turkey wing dinner with peas, cabbage dressing and cornbread. The turkey was tuff and salty and the peas, dressing and cabbage was wasn’t very tasteful at all. Maybe management or cooks have changed or both, but it’s not the same as when the Columbus location first opened up.

The food is spot-on delicious. It had been a long while since I had an Ed’s plate and they did not disappoint. I walked out with 4 dinner plates to feed my family, and the plates were not a dibble and dabble little food for a big price Just know that when you go to Ed’s for a meal, you are sure to get full.

My mother and I just purchased Thanksgiving plates from Ed’s, 4 plates, 3 pecan pie slices. Absolutely WONDERFUL meal, so tender and juicy, great flavor. Only wish the green beans with the little potatoes had been a veggie option.
Thank you to the Ed’s staff for working today! You ARE appreciated and I pray extra blessings for each of you this holiday season.

This is a cafeteria style restaurant with very friendly service. There was a bountiful selection of desserts, meats, vegetables and several salad choices. The servings were very generous. The food was good but a little spicy for me, the reason for the 4 stars.
