This is a great restaurant right off of Jackson square. Staff is super friendly add food is spot on with the local dishes. I had the gumbo which was a really nice blend of shrimp and sausage. Not overly Smokey which many gumbos in town can be. Also the red beans and rice is one of the favorites that I’ve had around town. I had it with the smoked sausage on top. Which gave it a very nice complexity. They also do have a pork chop which I think I would try on top of the red beans and rice next time. Overall I would encourage you to visit this restaurant prices are decent add service was great.

Terrific gumbo, rich and super flavorful. Location is great, right on Jackson square and the street performaner are right next to it, so you get a concert as well. Very enjoyable lunch spot.

The food was honestly pretty bad.

Pasta tasted like the Walmart great value sauce jars.

The sandwiches contained one small sausage cut in half with lettuce and exactly (1) tomato slice.

Chicken was bland and dry.

Overpriced for some dishes too. Go elsewhere it’s a tourist trap

Nice location and friendly staff.
I tried the NOLA shrimp and cheesy grits at random… Not to my liking but not the restaurants fault. Less oil and more flavour could have made it a little better.

We find that the Cafe Pontalba has one of the best views of any cafe in New Orleans. Overlooking Jackson Square and the Cathedral is great on a nice day. The menu has many of New Orleans favorites and breakfast is served all day. It’s not gourmet but the food is good. They also have a full service cocktail bar with seating. The service is friendly and quick.

The crab cakes alone took my breath away. The service was lovely from start to finish, entrees were executed with love, and the view in Jackson Square is to die for. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves to eat and loves to people watch. We’ll be back!

I ordered the blackened redfish etouffee and it was to die for, and the staff was extremely attentive. Would definitely come back

We only had jambalaya and red beans/rice, but it was clean, good food, fast service, friendly, and quick table turnover (they didn’t let a table sit empty/dirty for more than 2 min when we were there). Great views of the square, and right by some live music happening just outside. We were in a little bit of a hurry, had a scheduled thing, but it was perfect! Thank you!

The restaurant had no heat on a 34° day and it became unpleasantly cold inside. Food was alright but my crawfish pie was still frozen in the center. The worst part of the experience was the service. Our serve never offered coffee or drink refills, threw menus down and was rude in general. Love visiting NOLA but scratching this place off our list.

This restaurant sits on a corner of Jackson Square away from the river. It is small and the atmosphere is good. I like the open windows right on the square. The food was good. Maybe not up to my expectations in the French quarter. The wife had a shrimp po boy. It is hard to mess up a po boy. The only difference here is that they don’t ask if you want it dressed, they send the dressings on the side. The fries are frozen crinkle cut fries and nothing spectacular. I had the red beans and rice with sausage. The beans were creamy and tasty. They were a little salty and all they had for hot sauce was Louisiana hot sauce, which is a little vinegary for me. The sausage was good and I like that there is sausage cut up in the beans as well. I would like a little more “Cajun” flavor in the beans. The drinks were good and well poured and the staff was friendly and professional. All together this is a good restaurant, especially late on a weekend night. It is quiet and laid back.
