We were looking for pizza, and to watch college football. Well we found this place, and we definitely will be back.
We ordered MARGHERITA PIZZA, and the texture of the pizza was good, but no BASIL at all. We added two more toppings to it and was so expensive……. But we really like it.
My wife ordered ESPRESSO MARTINI, and it was not that bad.
I only ordered beer and was really cheap. 3dls bottle (Saturday).
We ended with the best TIRAMISU in a while!!!!!!!
We also ordered a pizza and a burger to go both were good nothing great nothing that would make me say must return. I will come back, but I won’t go out of my way to visit.
We were there around 9pm on a Saturday they were slightly busy but there were also plenty of empty tables. The service took a long time and being sat by the kitchen door, the servers spent a lot of time loitering around the registers. I understand that with the thicker crust pizza we got it takes some time to cook, but even getting our drinks and check took a long time.
All of the tables except a couple booths on the perimeter have been converted to hi-top tables (they used to be proper dining tables) and the restaurant has become a sports bar. That’s their prerogative, and we didn’t care as long as the food was still good. The hostess initially seated us at a hi-top that the bathroom hallway leads to. The bathroom doors are less than 10 feet from this table, which should not exist. We asked for a different table so we didn’t have to smell human waste every time a door opened.
We were then seated in a side room formerly used for banquets. The table we were seated at had food, paper waste, and toothpicks from previous diners. The hostess must have thought this was fine, because she did not call a busser. When the waitress came we asked to have it cleaned, she said she would get a busser. 10 minutes later no busser, but the waitress arrived and wiped down ONLY the 4 square feet directly in front of us. She left all of the litter and waste sitting next to us. She asked if we wanted drinks, and we would have ordered drinks except she brought no drink menus. The food menu has food only. On a matter of principle now I wouldn’t buy a drink from them.
The room looked like an abandoned space that they just put people in. The walls had data ports and outlets surrounding holes in drywall where TV’s had been ripped out. There were food serving trays used for buffets on the ground. Granted they were not being used, but I don’t want to see anything which will eventually contain food on the ground. There was an HDMI cable hanging at head-height from the ceiling where a projector had been removed. Paint is chipped off all the trim. Out of curiosity I looked I the rear-most area which formerly contained OTB facilities, and there were empty tv brackets on the walls and a small stage loaded with random boxes of Christmas decorations. There is an overhead track with speakers and stage lights mounted, so it appears that they are trying to use this portion as a very small entertainment space. Which is fine, except that the whole facility looked like something out of an abandoned building/urban explorers YouTube video.
There is no longer free soup or salad with dinners, you have to pay $3 or $4 now. There is no bread brought to the table.
The food was acceptable but not up to its former standards. On the way out I used the men’s room, and there were no other occupants. Light bulbs were burned out, the sink was covered in water and had soap dispensers ripped off the wall, paper waste was strewn throughout the floor, and 1 of 2 urinals was covered in a plastic garbage bag.
Salerno’s has become a wasteland. I don’t know if there are new owners or what has caused this, but I advise avoiding it like the plague. There are zero standards for cleanliness, the atmosphere is depressing and almost scary, there are no standards for service -not even wiping other people’s waste off the table. This place does not care about its customers and it is reflected 10 times over.
Hey Salerno’s: a little drywall mud and paint goes a long way, and take the food service items off the floor and invest in this thing called a broom. Ask yourselves and your employees if you think you deserve a clean table away from the smell of feces, and a drink menu. Maybe you can unplug the dangling cords. Your whole establishment looks like it has been raided by looters who put your TVs for sale online.
What a disappointment that a place that really had their act together and was an example of what other restaurants should strive to be has turning into a dump hawking buckets of Lite.
On my check there’s was a charge “management fee “ I eat out 3 to 4 times a week and i run in some those charges and every single time it was removed
Salerno manager wouldn’t remove he tried to explain first he said the charges was to help pay kitchen staff! Then he said some people don’t leave tip so maybe was for the waitress but I believe this was for the house I believe it was 3% of the bills
If you don’t make enough money increase the price in the menu
Will never come back to this place
We decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and ordered drinks. My friend and I got espresso martinis — they came out half full and were $18 each. I never send drinks back, but come on. We then ordered shots, hoping things would improve, but she never checked in on us — we had to flag her down. When she finally poured the shots, they were clearly under-poured (I’m a bartender myself, so I know what a proper pour looks like).
I asked for an orange juice back for my shot, and she rolled her eyes and said “yeah,” then charged me for it. I don’t mind paying, but being overcharged for under-poured drinks with that attitude is just ridiculous.
Overall, the service was rude, unprofessional, and clearly biased — she only seemed interested in serving the men who came in. It’s a shame because the place itself has potential, but that kind of service drives people away. Definitely won’t be back unless the staff changes.
The only reason I gave them 3 stars and not 1 was because they did not charge me for the pizza which was nice but I would rather pay and have a great experience.
