Probably the best beachfront restaurant in Kona, tried them all – Magics has the best food compared to the rest. If you’re looking for the picturesque atmosphere, this should be your choice… but if you’re a hardcore foodie, go inland a bit. Beachfront locations come with a price – same check, not-quite-as-good food. It’s a trade off, imo. Regardless, if you want the waves crashing in your line of sight while dining in Kona, this is most definitely the place. Recommend the beef bulgogi and karaage fish appetizers and any steak for dinner – note steaks are cut thin though. Excellent service & view, good quality food.
Edit: updated from 4 to 5 stars for one reason – we felt COMPLETELY unrushed in our experience. The restaurant biz is 25% food and 75% real estate. Not here. Mahalo, Magics. Will be back.
Soon.

This restaurant has gorgeous views of the ocean and sunsets. Truly beautiful scenery. All of the seating is open air and you can see the sunset from all tables. My food was very good. The service is okay. We were given a water cup with someone’s lipstick on it which was pretty gross. Our server barely checked on us and after we asked for the check we waited a very long time before finally asking another server for our check. It’s very expensive but so is every other restaurant on the island so it’s to be expected.

We had such a great time at Magic Sands Grill. The food was amazing, and sitting on the patio with a view of the ocean and shoreline made it even better. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful places to eat in Kona, and the food is some of the best we tried during our trip. The staff were kind, respectful, and very professional, which made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. Definitely a must-visit when you’re in Kona.

Great place to stop and grab a bite to eat. The food was fresh and the views were fantastic. Great views of the ocean and magic sands beach. Lots of surfers in the water the day we went. We ordered some brussel sprouts which were terrific. We also ordered the ceviche, it was just ok and needed a bit more substance to it. The drinks were delicious and we loved the staff and the service. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Absolutely fantastic spot! Local fare was amazing and we always get the Ulu (kind of like Hawaiian sweet potatoes).

So fun sitting outside watching everyone boogie board too. Drinks were delicious and lots of options. Great happy hour! Fills up so get there early or make reservations! We go every time!

Stopped in after a long day in the water and we were super excited to have a delicious meal in a beautiful setting. The service was incredible our waitress was super attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was INCREDIBLE. The guys all had the steak and were impressed with how perfectly they were cooked. My hubby added the lobster tail and said it was great. My daughter had the chicken and said it was juicy and seasoned perfectly. I did the gorgonzola bacon gnocchi and some asparagus and thought both were cooked perfectly. We all left incredibly full but in a great way, the way you feel after enjoying clean ingredients cooked to perfection!

Highly recommend dinner or lunch at Magics for the food, atmosphere, and service! We had dinner reservations for the day we arrived, which was the perfect introduction to Hawaii. We had the Ahi Poke Tower, Lawai’a Trio, and risotto. The risotto was the best risotto we’ve had outside of Italy, and the rest was delicious. The view on the patio was spectacular, overlooking a beautiful beach. We also had lunch on the day we departed, splitting a perfectly cooked fish and chips. Our dinner server Jay and our lunch server (Emily?) were both super friendly and helpful. Parking was easy since the parking lot in front was reserved for the restaurant. 10/10 would recommend.

Magics Beach Grill came recommended by our hotel, and honestly, I usually skip concierge picks but I’m really glad I didn’t this time. The place has a great vibe. The restaurant is a nice size, easy parking, and it sits right above the water with a view that’s just unreal. Watching the beach and ocean while you eat is worth it alone.

The food? Spot on. I had the Cajun shrimp pasta and it was easily one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had, period. Perfectly cooked, tons of flavor, and balanced just right. Prices felt totally fair given the view and quality.

Overall, it’s the kind of spot where you leave already thinking about what you’ll try next time.

Just don’t, it’s not worth it. Unless you got 200 dollars burning a hole in your pocket. The food was mid at best. My son’s burger was the best. I asked for a bloody, they were all out of mix, on a Monday afternoon. I’ll post a picture of my 30 dollar fish and chips. It was ono with what I guess was a cornstarch batter and it was basically nothing. The size of my thumb a spoon of coleslaw that tasted like maybe mayonnaise on cabbage and some fries. This lunch was pitiful. Do yourself a favor get the ono tacos to go at Shaka tacos and sit on the beach for free for a view. This place is overpriced and underwhelming. Dont even think their chef knows how to cook.

Wonderful food, but our waiter was also the bartender, so after we waited to be seated we had to wait another 15 minutes for him to acknowledge us. He took our drink order after whispering what beers they had (very nonchalant), then returned with them another 20 minutes later, almost slamming them on our table with an audible clank. He then mumbled what the fish of the day was, without saying what it included, took our orders and disappeared for the rest of our dinner.
Regarding the food, we ordered the ceviche as an appetizer, which we never received, the fish of the day (marlin with rice and artichoke which was excellent) and the fish and chips (gluten free; Also excellent).
Another waitress brought us our food, then another waitress randomly checked on us after seeing her table, refilling our drinks.
So we’re about an hour and a half from our last exchange with our waiter, now waiting for him to remember he has a table instead of flirting with the girls at the bar, when he finally stops by to mumble, “Y’all good?”
We ask for the check and begin another waiting game as he stops to serve 3 other patrons their drinks, then brings the check to the table next to us, eventually bringing us the check. We asked if he was charging us for the ceviche, he said yes, we told him we never received it, and he respectfully replies, “Oh… you didn’t?”
No, dude, we didn’t. Anyways, long story short, DO NOT let them give you to the bartender, because they’re clearly more interested in tending to the bar than their assigned tables.
With that caveat, I do recommend eating here because the food was excellent and the view of the beach and ocean were very nice.
