Very classy and chill restaurant. A lot of the food is really elevated. My fav is for breakfast, the Eggs Benedict. Sophisticated flavor, hollandaise sauce is like no other with a beautiful bright tang, now raising it more, they add lox to the stack!
Service is the best I’ve ever seen at a hotel restaurant. Very warm and friendly folks. So helpful and attentive.

The atmosphere was beautiful and peaceful, though chilly. The large room was mostly empty and had plenty of tables of all sizes. It would have been nice to at least been offered a seat by the live piano player (one of the reasons we came) but instead we were seated about as far from the music as possible and out of sight of the stage. All of those tables remained empty the entire visit. The server was nice and friendly, but the kitchen timing was off. We were obviously not looking for a rushed meal and they were not very busy but our 2 drinks took quite a while to come out (10+min). The drinks were eh, okay but definitely not worth the over $20 each prices. Especially the apple pie drink. We sipped on those and sat on the last sips to try with our meal for a while before our appetizers came out (especially because the apple pie drink needed a chaser), but I’ll give them that because I ordered French Onion Soup. The soup and salad were very good. Our entrees came out while we were still eating the soup & salad and shoved onto the tiny table. Later we had to ask them to take the soup & salad dishes away midway through eating the entrees so we could have some space. The Verlasso Salmon dish was excellent though the potatoes were bland and could have used some rosemary, herbs de provance, or something. The chicken was excellent and all dietary restrictions were followed. Our desserts were brought but the empty cocktail and entree dishes were left. We flagged down the server to take the empty dishes. The desserts were excellent. The single gentleman next to us had extremely slow service. Long stretches between appetizer, entree, and dessert. After he finished he waited quite a while for the server and eventually had to flag her down to get his bill, which also took quite a bit of work. The bathrooms were nice and well maintained.

First of all the 2 stars is because of the extra fees I occurred there staying one night, this was an extreme inconvenience since our family stayed the night here for my sons bday so we could get early start on the museums in town. One was a $50 deposit which I agreed to upon arrival because we were already there and the second was $80 for breakfast I had already paid for through an online package, I did borrow extra money from family so we could continue our celebration but the Financial situation they put me in was very stressful. Other than that the hotel was breathtaking and the food and restaurant was wonderful. Try the Amish chicken!

I got the Roasted Amish Chicken entree. Everything was delicious! Obviously your bill won’t be quite so expensive if you just ordered a meal and a drink. But after this rural girl spent a day alone in the city, I needed a glass of wine to calm my fried nerves haha and I was starving since I hadn’t eaten since breakfast. (My lunch idea in the city failed to pan out)
You don’t need to dress up for the bar, at least. But everyone loved my dress. And I had it, so I wanted to wear it! It’s much too pretty of a venue not to have. The staff was so pleasant and welcoming! The historian in me absolutely loved this place! Thank you!

Orchids is by far the best high-end restaurant in Cincinnati. The atmosphere alone is absolutely breathtaking—you feel as though you’ve been transported back to the elegance of the 1930s. It’s worth taking a moment to admire the stunning artwork on the ceilings and the meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of the design.
The food is good, but keep in mind that the menu is chef’s choice, so it’s a good idea to check what’s being served beforehand to ensure it suits your tastes. The live music and the beautiful water fountain add even more charm to the experience. Overall, it’s a gorgeous place with great ambiance and good food.

They do NOT serve brunch anymore. Despite being able to reserve for brunch, its no longer offered here. They serve a typical hotel buffet style breakfast (pastries, eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, cereal, potatoes) that taste fine but is not what we expected when we booked our reservation. The staff are helpful and attentive, the decor is beautiful, but don’t come expecting brunch.

Don’t even bother before 5…
I had a few hours before a flight and went looking for brunch last minute. Photos made this place look decent, and I’m sure for dinner it is. But at 11:15 on a Saturday, it was a complete disappointment. Service was fine, but it was bar seating and half rate bar food.

The room is fantastic, as was the band. The salmon and beef stew were good. The server was great and very apologetic about the system being down and subseqent delays.
The poor service rating reflects us arriving at the entrance, standing there for a couple minutes while the host was looking at his phone and completely rudely ignoring us until another server came up and asked us if we had a reservation.

The architecture, band, and cocktails were great however, there was much that was missing from this experience.
We arrived at The 1931 for some drinks before dinner. After a round of delicious cocktails, we decided to order the Grazing Board from the menu. When it arrived, there was one bowl of pimento cheese and various unknown meats. We attempted to flag down our waitress to inquire about the unknown meats and ask for a refill of water however, she was nowhere to be found. When she did eventually come by, we had asked for a refill of bread for the board since there wasn’t enough crostini on the plate to eat the bowl of pimento cheese. She then told us it would be an extra $6 for more crackers and said we should get the pita bread for an extra $4. This left us a bit perturbed since the board was $22 to start off.
Beyond the food service, the wait staff wasn’t attentive. Regularly did someone come to the front hoping to dine at the restaurant only for them to walk away after 5 minutes since no one came up to help them. There was even one point when there 3 parties in line waiting to be seated and no one helped any of them.
I highly recommend for anyone to enter the Netherland Plaza hotel to see the beautiful French-Deco architecture and maybe even grab a drink while listening to the great live music. However, I would think twice before dining here as there are other incredible restaurants in the area.

Nice to have visited the 1931.
The food was good but I was a bit underwhelmed. I tried things on the new spring menu, picture included. In my opinion the food was fine but not exciting enough to warrant the price I paid for it.
The dining area is astounding and that is really the reason why I dined there though. It’s like stepping back in history and I just love the Art Deco decor.
