Returning my son to PSU after the Thanksgiving break and we decided to stop in for brunch. We did not have a reservation but timed it well. We were seated in the main bar area within a few minutes of arrival. 10-15 minutes later the lobby was filled with people looking for a table. Not sure if they were understaffed that day, we waited a bit for our waitress to take our order. My coffee came to the table when I went to the bathroom, no creamer was left. The food came out in a reasonable time, I had the blueberry pancakes and my son the waffle. The food was very good, they do use real Maple Syrup which I appreciate. The price was reasonable for the quality of food. There is enough on the menu to satisfy most people. I like the decor of the restaurant, they had it decorated for the holidays.

Good appetizers, entrees were OK. The steak frites was not that great. Steak was overcooked (asked for med rare vs well done in picture) and without the sauce it would be uneditable. Dry and just generally not great. The service was disappointing. Our waiter really killed the vibe at our table. Not sure why.
ASG upstairs has better food and service. Corner room is more like an Applebees

Atmosphere makes the food taste extra special. Location, interior design, comfort, and service are the intangibles that provide an exceptional experience.

Best smoked salmon sandwich I ate in State College. Breads were very loaded with lots of cream cheese, salmon, arugula, and pickled red onion. It was normally coming with chips but I upgraded it to with salad and salad was also very nice with tasty olive oil/balsamic dressing.
My Mediterranean stomach had a real fest. Will come again soon. It was a very busy time with THON but my order still was not late.

Pretty good spot, great location, and decent food. They were kind enough to let us order off of the dinner menu even though it was before 3 which was nice. Can get busy, but no reservations are allowed. Had a large group and it wasn’t a problem when they aren’t busy.

9/21/24 – My son and I attended a Penn State game and a Steelers game this weekend. Our home is Birmingham, AL.
We wanted to experience games at these two great stadiums and eat at establishments with a great tradition.

We were very pleased with The Corner Room. Very pleasant staff from the hostess who recommended we eat at the bar since we were a party of two and the very friendly, attentive
young man serving us at the bar.

I had the double stack burger/fries and my son had the buffalo fried chicken sandwich/fries. The burger was very good and my son enjoyed his sandwich.

Fun traditional place to eat with good food – highly recommend you eat at The Corner Room!

My son and I visited on a bitterly cold Saturday during a college tour. To be honest, I feared this was an over-hyped place that was simply popular because of its prominent location close to the university. Couldn’t be further from the truth. The charming place just turned 100 years old, and it’s beautiful and quirky interior speaks to that history – just gorgeous. And even though it was slam-packed, the service was super friendly (had a nice convo with the front desk gent, our server was awesome and prompt) – and the food, wow. I had the Bloody Mary (oooh yes) and the steak & eggs (chorizo on the steak, perfectly done eggs), and my son had a powerhouse Rueben. Do NOT skip this place if you’re in town!

With no Ye Olde College Diner, the next best place for breakfast is the Corner Room. It was a Saturday morning, and we were seated immediately in a comfortable booth. Beverages were ordered and sticky delivered and we ordered. I got Yogurt & Granola Bowl ($10) with fresh fruit, almond granola, honey, and a nicely sized brown sugar swirl coffee cake. The table ordered Corned Beef Hash Skillet ($13) with
two fried eggs, breakfast potatoes, bell peppers, spinach, and gravy; and Corner Breakfast ($13) with two large eggs, sausage or bacon, breakfast potatoes, and toast. We also got the obligatory grilled stickies, which were as good as remembered. The service was great and it was a lot of food for a reasonable price. Meet Me At The Corner!

Giving this place 3 stars because it is very un-accesible. The only restrooms available are by going up there flights of stairs. The booths were narrow and difficult to manage getting in and out (with dignity) if your knees don’t work well.
Yes, the food was good. Wait staff was quick to answer questions and food came hot. Tomato Soup was wonderful with the toasted Gouda sandwich. Husband enjoyed his Salmon Caesar Salad.

BUT if you aren’t an able-bodied college student, you’ll need to skip this place.
