My family and I have been fortunate to enjoy Hu’s Cooking for many years, and it has become one of our favorite dining spots! We absolutely love the delicious food and the wonderful service that make each visit special. Mr. Hu truly goes above and beyond to ensure everyone feels like a cherished guest. From his warm greetings to personally delivering our meals and even taking the time to tidy up the walkways, his attention to detail and commitment to hospitality are unmatched. Being regulars at Hu’s Cooking always feels like coming home, and we wholeheartedly recommend this delightful restaurant for any occasion. You won’t be disappointed!

This place was recommended by a local friend. Therefore I had some high expectation for it beforehand. The dishes we ordered including the bean jelly and deep fried string beans were a bit too salty. The steamed bass has a bit of a fishy smell despite of a lot of green onion slices around it. Duck’s blood and beef tripe in spicy soup 毛血旺 is reasonably good, meeting expectation. Restroom is clean enough.

Great restaurant for lunch. Tasty food. Quick serving. Good portion for lunch menu $15 ish.
We will come back. Deserve to be #55 chinese restaurant in the USA (based on yelp 2024). Parking space is tough. Better to use a carpool or use a bus or an uber/lyft.

Hu’s Cooking is by far the best Chinese food I have had in a long time in Houston, Texas. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. The main dishes are served in very large portions. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve long heard that Hu’s Cooking is the place to go for quality Chinese food in the inner loop, and my first visit there last weekend met all expectations. The food was well plated and good portioned, which matched the premium menu prices in comparison to other Chinese restaurants. We ordered three dishes for two people, and it made for a good balanced meal. The spicy chicken was a surprising twist of Sichuan flavors with popcorn chicken like texture. Seeing that the menu featured Sichuan spices and multiple peppers, I was initially worried that the spice levels might go over my tolerance, but luckily the dishes were made less mild than the typical Sichuan restaurants to cater to the diverse customer base in inner loop. Highly recommend Hu’s Cooking for anyone new to Sichuan cuisine to ease into the flavors.
The reason for the one star short of five is due to the limited parking space and the ceiling in the restaurant showing signs of aging (i.e. visible insulation and missing covers).
Overall, I found dining at Hu’s Cooking to be a pleasant experience. The service was great, and the staff speak both Chinese and English fluently. We outstayed our meal up till the time they closed for the afternoon, and the servers still respected our space until we finished our meal and conversations and naturally got up to leave. Definitely a nice touch to the experience and well appreciated. I will be back again, and I have my eyes on trying the famous Mapo Tofu next time.

Huscooking is truly a hidden gem! The dishes are generous in portion and full of authentic flavor. The spicy hot pot is rich and numbing without being overwhelming, while the pickled cabbage beef is tangy, refreshing, and tender. The spicy “Mao Xue Wang” comes with a variety of ingredients, bold flavors, and pairs perfectly with rice. The cold beef with crushed peanuts is aromatic, crunchy, and well-seasoned. Service is friendly, the food comes out quickly, and the environment is clean and comfortable. Whether for a casual meal with friends or a family gathering, this is definitely a place worth revisiting!

Sizeable dishes. Likef that online ordering allowed for less salt, less oil, extra spicy etc options – that’s unique. Kung pao chicken extra spicy was hot with additional red and green chilies. A little on the sweeter side but made the way it is supposed to be – just chicken and peanuts – no extraneous veggies etc. Eggplant with string beans was very good with the beans wok seared. Fish bites were tasty but also found a few dough only pieces. Overall gyood was good.

This place is amazing! This isn’t run off the mill Chinese food, this is as authentic as they come. If you want robust flavors, an intimate setting, and good prices, this is your place. You can also tell this is a good Chinese restaurant because the majority of the patrons were Chinese! I highly recommend this restaurant. Parking isn’t the best though, so if you’re in a hurry, definitely can your order in
