Stiver’s Restaurant in Chelsea, MI has such a welcoming, nostalgic charm. The atmosphere and staff are genuinely friendly, and there’s something really special about being in a place with so much history. It’s wild to learn that they physically moved the entire restaurant when the highway was built—that alone makes it worth a stop.
We were just passing through and stopped in for some snacks before getting back on the road. The pretzel was good and very reasonably priced. We also ordered a basket of fries that initially came out surprisingly small, but our waitress went out of her way to advocate for us with the cook and brought back a larger basket. That small act of kindness really stood out and made the experience even better.
The beer was decent, but more than the food, I loved the cozy, true-to-their-roots vibe of the place. It feels authentic and comfortable, like a local staple that hasn’t tried to be anything it’s not. I’d definitely come back—not just to try more of the food, but for the experience and atmosphere alone.

A staple in the Chelsea area for great diner breakfasts. The bar side of the restaurant is also well set up and the food is fantastic. Daily specials that hit the spot and late night snacks Friday and Saturday after 10pm. Karaoke nights have always been popular here as well. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the vibe is cozy and rustic. The entire establishment is sparkling clean, including the restrooms. Definitely worth a visit, give them a try!

We had a good time, awesome bartender& drinks, the food was ok. Just your neighborhood bar and grill with restaurant seating on dock side. Stop in and get the burgers – have fun.

I love ❤️ this place. It’s a little country & secluded, but it’s so laid-back. Everyone is always warm & inviting. My husband & i usually attend the Friday happy hour. The bartender is friendly and funny. One of our favorite spots. We usually stop in 1-2 times a week.

Everything you want in small bar: involved owner, experience staff, with a young energy with their thumb print on everything. It all makes Stivers a bright, and lively place. With kind and involved environment, often having karaoke on weekends.
Staff are professional, witty, and very communicative. Hats off.

Just came here with a larger group of hooligans. Aleah, (hopefully I spelled that correctly) was amazing. Such a good server. She was really attentive despite having many tables, our drinks were always full, and our food came out perfect. Thank you so much! I’ll definitely be back 🙂

The food was good. I asked for two eggs over easy and that is what I got. My wife and I split an order of pancake, she liked them I did not. The price was great! The decor is dated and is need of updating. If you take out the TV’s you can imagine you in the 70’s. The restroom need help.

A fine place to stop for a standard breakfast. Enjoyed the Country fried steak special & Flat-top cooked omelettes, both with crispy hash browns. Clean bathrooms. Nice home-town, road trip restaurant.

Food was great. I got the Royal Burger. Angus patty with egg, bacon, and cheese. Asked for pepperjack cheese instead of American. Waitress said it would be no charge to switch it, but then charged a $1 on the receipt for the pepperjack cheese. Fries were golden brown and tasted great also. They give you a decent amount. Bathroom was okay. Nice place. They could put some millings down in the parking lot to help with the dust. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and we had to ask for napkins. We never got refills on our drinks either.
