Local restaurant from award winning chef from Detroit, and I can see why. All the fried dishes we had were full of flavor without being over salted. You can also tell the fry oil was fresh as food was not dark and over fried. Flavors were on point , with some very unique dipping sauces. The staff were super nice and very helpful in deciding what to order. Taking the time to detail dishes as well as let know of the daily as well weekly specials. Always happy to support local businesses. Very happy that they are in Pearland and wish them continued success.

If the SOUL food is from Detroit you cannot go wrong!!!! THE FOOD WAS SO SATISFYING YOU’RE PLANNING YOUR NEXT VISIT BEFORE YOU FINISH YOUR PLATE. My husband had the Rocking Rodeo Gripper, you’ve got to use TWO hands the sandwich was so big lol. I had the 2 fish 6 shrimp plate with the Parmesan fries, THE LOU sauce is DELICIOUS. Also tried the lobster Mac I appreciated the amount of lobster meat used but the Mac and cheese wasn’t my favorite. Split the peach cobbler cheesecake and it was PERFECT. I also had a lemon drop and my husband had a daiquiri, personally as good as the food was the drinks didn’t impress me but I STILL LEFT #STUFFEDANDSATISFIED .

The vibes, the food, the customer service were top tier. Music was on 10 the whole time not one bad song played the whole time we were there.. the atmosphere is laid back, chill and it’s unmatched. We really enjoyed ourselves and I would definitely recommend.

I absolutely loved the Salmon Soul Bowl! Great taste . I also tried out the Yung Gripper. I’m not really a fan of any chicken sandwiches but I could not resist. Added bacon w/ American cheese . I didn’t care for the sauce so I’m glad I got it on the side vs all over the sandwich. I think a fried egg would’ve really set it off though! Good kool-aid & lemonade . Next time I’m back in the area I’d return to try more seafood and a dessert item. I had a really good leftover to-go plate. Everything reheated well!

To be completely honest, I’m a bit of a fried chicken connoisseur — I know my bird. This was my first time at The Gripper, and we went in blind, not knowing the story or that the “Gripper” is the go-to order. As you’ll see from our pictures, we tried something different, but let me tell you — it did not disappoint. The flavor, the crunch, the whole vibe — 10 out of 10. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town, and if this place were local to me, it would easily replace my favorite chicken spot. Highly recommend! To top it off all of this and a 18% tip was only $57 dollars!

The Gripper didn’t disappoint! We ordered the lobster mac and cheese, fried fish, and shrimp. Kid-friendly, the food was great, and the restaurant was amazing too and we were happy. Loved their welcoming energy. Oh yeah, the Kool-Aid was fire.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! We found this place by accident and it’s the best accident EVER!! The food is amazing, portions are large, variety of chicken items, and flavors are exceptional! If I’m ever in Pearland again, I’ll be a repeat customer!

The best wings, the best soul food and the best catfish me and my wife had in Houston so far.
The food takes sometime to get out of the kitchen, but DEFINITELY worth the wait.
Try different and plates and come back to try some more, they need to open more locations.
