What truly sets this experience apart is the service.
Kate was exceptional — polished, genuinely warm, and incredibly knowledgeable. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her attention to detail transformed a great lunch into a memorable dining experience.
In a city full of dining options, Lan Ong delivers not just a meal, but a refined culinary moment.
Absolutely worth it.
Definitely come again when we visit Hanoi next time.
Secondly Malaysia have the best curry
Overall the food is good. Nice. Our best Vietnam meal. The service is good. Staff is good in English. Easy to communicate. However, the curry banh mi is not that umami the seafood base is good but the curry and coconut milk not enough
We started with the Vietnamese spring roll platter. The crab spring rolls were excellent, crispy and flavorful. The sea duck fried spring rolls were just okay. the duck flavor didn’t really come through, though my husband enjoyed them anyway “He like anything fried”
For main, we had five-spice pork ribs—absolutely sumptuous.
We had planned to order the sweet potato crème brûlée with cinnamon ice cream, but the staff surprised us by serving it complimentary after asking us to move tables for a reservation. A generous and appreciated gesture.
Overall, a very pleasant experience with good food and attentive service. Just make sure to book ahead—they get very busy.
Although we had a pleasant dinner we thought the hype about this restaurant was rather unproportional to the actual experience and the price.
We shared an appetizer and had 2 dishes, the duck pho and the garlic beef. Really good food – just not worth double what it usually costs:( The food isn’t really priced the way it should be. We did get “shots” of juice and tea and an amuse bouche for free, which was nice.
Garlic beef, selection of spring rolls and pho + 2 drinks which were red wine(175k) and a mix juice(95k)
Total, with the 3% card fee was about 1,1 million vnd. Other than that, really good place, worth a try for the atmosphere and great service
Love this place. Came for lunch upon a recommendation from a friend. Prices are higher than other restaurants. However, the service and food was value for money.
We had the spring roll combo, black pepper beef, lacquered pork ribs, duck pho and bun cha. They are all so delicious. We all had a different favourite. When I return again, I will order black pepper beef, lacquered pork ribs and bun cha again and try other dishes.
Will definitely be coming back here in next Hanoi trip.
*already missing the bun cha
Pro tip: Make reservations to guarantee a seat at your preferred timing. They cater to tour groups too so sometimes large tables are taken up but they have more than one level.
The baguette (bahn mi) and the prawn curry is a great match!
The spring roll combo is great! The very unique way of mixing various spices is very obvious in this dish, I enjoyed tasting menthol leaves with the 3 species and intermix.
The pork rib was very soft and tender! The elder one was very impressed – comparable with the best we had in Beijing.
The decor is also interesting. Especially remember to check out the 2nd floor, and also the toilet door! Reminds me my grandma’s old house!
Thomas was very helpful and friendly. He helped remove the ribs on the roasted pork and communicated to us in good English.
