I go for the wings of course, they are outstanding. Cooked perfectly, and seasoning is great.
Love the atmosphere for a quick lunch. Or a great spot for some dinner and fun after.
Honestly, sides could be better, but it really doesn’t even matter because the wings are that good.

The live music was great and made for a really fun atmosphere. The food was good, fresh, and tasty. Unfortunately, the service could be improved, when we arrived, we stood by the door for a while and two workers passed by us without greeting or explaining where to order. We ended up having to chase someone down to figure out how it worked. Overall, a fun spot with good food and entertainment, but the service needs more attention.

Very different style of restaurant. You order your food at a kiosk like a gas station, you pick it up yourself and you throw it away yourself. Now for us the food was prepared extremely fast, less than 5 minutes. It was not very busy and this place seems to be built for handling massive crowds. The pulled pork and cole slaw was decent. The chicken nuggets and fries were very dry and sub par. That being said, kids will love them.

“Best Wings Ever” is an understatement! Today is the first day of their open season and I am pumped and counting down the hours until I get there!!
I have tried wings all over the world and these are something special. By far my favorite! Great service from the entire staff, plenty of good food options and drink specials. They also have awesome Billy Bones rub to go for the DIYers!
Love the overall atmosphere, the indoor and outdoor dining areas are always kept clean & organized. Silver Lake Chicken shack is right in the heart of all of the activities in town, Near the sand dunes, camping, parks, zipline, mini golf, shops and more!
Another bonus is that they have live music on the weekends, always a great time.

I totally spoiled my summer plans. I camp at state parks all over Michigan. To change things up this year, I thought I’d start trying to find some great wings at local restaurants. My first stop was Chicken Shack. I never believe the hype of “best whatever” because we all have different preferences. These wings hit all the highlights for me. The chicken itself was the right size – not the ridiculous bloated, fatty ones some place sell. The chicken was meaty, tender, and perfectly cooked to my liking. The rub was tasty and worked well as a base for the sauce, which wasn’t required (I chose the delicious Caribbean jerk). The smoke was subtle. I was happy to eat both drums and flats. I don’t think I can sit through another eating of overbreaded and soggy monster sized wings (even if they swear they’re not frozen). I’m fine with a decent buffalo wing that some places do reasonably well, but these wings were way beyond. I may have one other wing that barely edged this out on taste, but this was a superior product overall.
I didn’t try anything else, but I am curious. I just can’t eat a ton. The service was totally fine. I’m not a fan of noisy, crowded places, so I was really glad to go before the warm weather and lots of people arrived. I think it does a great job catering to families and people up to ride the dunes and just have fun. I would tolerate it not being an ideal place for me just for those wings. I don’t see the rest of my summer being this good.

we recently brought several friends from out-of-state to Silverlake for two things. The dunes in the chicken shack. We ordered 100 wings for the six of us plus beverages. Everything was fantastic and you won’t find better wings anywhere. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

We heard about the Chicken Shack from another tourist who said it is her favorite Silver Lake restaurant. We know why. The chicken, wings and pulled pork sandwiches were delicious. There are kiosks to order and a quick wait. The seating area is covered with open sides and large TVs. The bar was centrally located for those who want to drink. From the Saturday afternoon guests, it’s clear this spot attracts guests of all ages. We will go back the next time we visit the dunes.

Chicken bbq place. Fun place to go. We sat outside on the deck and watched the bumper ducks . Food was great. I had the pulled pork. It was very good. Husband had the broasted chicken super tender. More of a self serve place so can’t really rate service. Got food fast. Good quick place to eat. Would eat here again. Has a full bar available as well. Family friendly. Not really vegan friendly
