My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Monday, and it was BUSY! Because of the high level of traffic, I wasn’t expecting great service or for my food to come out hot and fast, but I was very surprised. We were seated almost immediately and our server was excellent. She was behind the bar, but also had a section of booths that she was serving. She gave us our menus and took our drink orders, as well as a food order for the booth across from us and did an incredible job of staying on top of everything with a friendly smile and helpful attitude. I ordered the lunch special of a breaded tenderloin and upgraded to onion rings. Both were very good. I am an onion rings “snob,” and these had an excellent breading with very sweet onion rings inside. I got them with a side of ranch and devoured them all. The tenderloin was an excellent combination of crispy on the outside, but tender on the inside. My husband had the hot beef plate. It was enormous and he said it was delicious. It was piled high with tender roast beef, mashed potatoes and a very dark, rich gravy. This is a great place for a fast, hot, affordable weekday lunch!

Wasn’t very busy for a Saturday night. Food was ok. Breading on the mushrooms was excessive. We were on a road trip to find the best breaded pork tenderloin and this one was the best we had. We had split it so what you see is half of it. Great portion sizes. Service left something to be desired. Was passing thru and it was recommended.

Not going to lie I go here for the fried mushrooms, they are the best! I’m not a fan of the loud environment but willing to put that aside for the mushrooms. This place is basically bar food, it’s a decent local place after work or if you want to pick something up on your way home. Service can be hit or miss, depends on the day and time of day. If you place an order for pick up always call in your order because they will charge the menu in restaurant price, if you order through the website you will pay far more for everything. Summer time they have bands which is nice but again super loud and difficult to hear the people at your table. The last time I was there I noticed how old and worn the menus were, you could barely read them but I knew what I wanted from previous visits. I would love to see more lights in this place and attention to detail would go a long way. Sometimes you can find coupons in your value pack.
Adding a comment that 4 months after this post, costs for ordering pick up seems to have increased. It’s getting too expensive for what you get and they don’t deliver.

This was my first visit to The Other Place. There was a variety of seating options–tables, booths, and bar seats. There were plenty of televisions for viewing sports. I had the lunch special that included a House Salad and 2 slices of pizza. The pizza’s crust was very good and I enjoyed the taste of the pizza. The salad was plentiful and was the perfect side for the pizza. I’m sure we will return.

The restaurant was very busy but they got us right in. We had the Saturday special, 16″ taco pizza and an order of onion rings. The food was absolutely delicious! Jocelyn was our server and she didn’t miss a beat. She asked if our appetizer was good and asked if our pizza was good. She kept our drinks full and always had a smile on her face, all while waiting multiple tables and helping keep her area clean. This young woman deserves a raise! 5 ☆’s all day long!

I asked for grilled mushrooms on my taco salad. I’m glad they put them on raw so I could see what I would be eating. They put raw, slimy, dirty mushrooms. The piece in the second picture was COVERED IN DIRT! I could not believe that anyone would let that come into the kitchen. I sent it back and couldn’t even order anything else I was so disgusted. Especially since they were slimy (obviously bad). I’m still so baffled that they let this leave the kitchen.
My server was very apologetic. She was extremely kind and just serving what the kitchen gave her.

Picked to visit based on their $8.99 lunch menu and did not disappoint! We had a fantastic server. Sat outside on the patio.
Pork tenderloin is a Top 3 in Iowa from the many that I’ve tried. It was hand breaded. Seasoned fries were crisp and well seasoned, excellent! Swiss potato soup was fantastic. My partner had the spaghetti lunch special, which was good. There were many more items on the lunch menu at great prices. From talking to the server, most of their foods and sauces are made in-house.
The building is large with ample seating and nice ambiance. It’s sports bar themed but was not too loud for us. I really look forward to going back, and it seems like a place we could frequent.

Working in the area for a couple of months and stopped at The Other Place for lunch and a couple of beers, had the onion rings (awesome batter) a side salad and the lasagna which I thought was good. The only real complaint I have is that the draught beer was a little flat but I still drank it.

We had: shrimp, chicken strips with french fries and chicken sandwich with tater tots. It was all very good with large portions (the chicken sandwich was huge)!
It was early on a Monday night so our wait was minimal.

Chill atmosphere. The chip & dip trio was a great appetizer, all 3 dips (salsa, queso & spinach) were full of flavor. The food came out in a decent time but it took a while for our waiter to check in & had to be found after waiting for over 20 min to ask for our check. Give our waiter some credit that it got busy and he seemed to have a lot of tables! So I can’t say if that’s normal. My husband had the taco pizza that was a special and greatly enjoyed it. Would recommend it for a low key family or couple dinner/lunch. A place you can wear the comfy clothes.
