Great experience, great food.
We stopped on our way to Charlotte. Started with the fried pickles, then we shared a combo meal with brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The kids had chicken tenders. Everything was delicious

I’m so glad that a local turned us onto this amazing BBQ restaurant! Servers were kind, attentive and friendly, food was PHENOMENAL AND FAST! There is a cute train track in operation over the biggest part of the building. We shared the 3 meat platter (pulled pork, ribs, brisket) with macaroni, collards, fried okra and cornbread, you can’t go wrong here, portions are healthy! Very clean and orderly, organized atmosphere with an inviting, down home vibe.

Stopped for lunch. Good portion of pulled pork. Carolina vinger based BBQ. Not my favorite, but what I was raised on. Everything was good.

Unsweetened iced tea with lemon, the two meat combo (brisket and sausage), baked beans, coleslaw, and a choice of bread for about $25 with tip. As you can see, no leftovers. I wish I had room for dessert (banana pudding, Mississippi mud, et al). From the time I sat down to when my food arrived, was about 15 min. The servers’ smile made me feel like I was eating at Uncle Joe’s….

We are staying at GWL for a few days and were looking for dinner. I came across Jake’s on a restaurant search and we decided to give it a try. I am SO glad we did. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic, and the pricing was perfect. The special of the day was a Mississippi pot roast and OMG it was cooked to perfection and was only $12!! I’m just sorry we won’t be here again next Tuesday!! ️ The wings with the Cajun rub were so fantastic. My son had the pork bbq sandwich – it was so good it didn’t need the BBQ sauce, but that was good too . We will definitely be back next time we are in the area! Give it a try you won’t be sorry!

DOORDASH REVIEW:
While here, staff was respectful and attentive. The place did not have “ambiance/background” music playing so you heard all the typical restaurant sounds as you sit. Portion size was a bit on the hefty side so it’s a good amount for those who want a full belly with your visit. One thing I noticed was that the floor was clean. Typically in smaller franchises like this one, staff is usually busy multitasking so there usually isn’t someone dedicated to cleaning. But as I typed this someone came out and started cleaning around the bar. She was also waitressing.
All in all, a nice place to bring the fam, or even stop by for yourself to have a bite.

I recently visited R&R BBQ in Concord, NC, and had a mixed experience. Here’s a breakdown of what I tried:

Pulled Pork: Moist and lightly smoked, the pulled pork was very good, especially with the hot vinegar sauce. However, it could have used a bit more smoke to enhance the flavor.

Ribs: Unfortunately, the ribs were overcooked and didn’t hold to the bones as well as they should have. They were decent but nothing special.

Baked Beans: These were awesome! Full of flavor and cooked to perfection.

Fried Okra: Very good, crispy, and well-seasoned.

Hush Puppies: Good, but not outstanding.

Overall, I’d give R&R BBQ a solid 4 stars. The pulled pork and baked beans were the highlights, while the ribs left something to be desired.

A really great BBQ restaurant!
Our server Erin was really attentive to us for refills, service etc.

And the food is incredible
First time trying hush puppies and I think I could keep eating them over and over.
The smoked turkey is beautiful and the BBQ beef brisket – highly recommended and a one meat platter is a perfect size too.

We were staying in Concord on a visit from the UK and wanted something local and a great find.
Give them a visit if you’re popping through or looking for a BBQ place!
