Love coming here to this Mexican restaurant. Will be seated instantly and served with chips/salsa (ask for green sauce if you like spicy). Carne asada fajita plate is my favorite and it’s enough to food 2 people! Large portions and definitely shareable. Food typically comes out no longer than 15 minutes. The staff always checks on me to see if there’s anything else I need. Nothing bad to say about this location. Love it!

If you’re craving authentic Mexican flavors, La Tapatia is the spot! The margaritas are strong, refreshing, and absolutely delicious —definitely a highlight of the visit. I usually go for the beef and chicken fajitas, and they never disappoint. The meat is tender, well-seasoned, and served sizzling hot—perfect for wrapping in warm tortillas .
The chips and salsa are a great starter—crispy, fresh, and the salsa has just the right kick ️ . On top of the great food, the customer service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and fast.
Overall, a fantastic dining experience at La Tapatia. I’d give it a solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and will definitely be coming back!

This restaurant os close to my job and a great place to stop by for happy hour while the traffic dies down a little.
That happy hour house margaritas at very very strong! The asada street tacos, chicken quesadillas, rice and beans are delicious.
Those are the only items that I’ve tried so far.. the bartenders are very polite and I love it.

I often come to La Tapatia restaurant at the corner of Richmond and Chimney Rock after working out at the gym. Yesterday was no exception.
I ordered my favorite Pechuga de Pollo (chicken breast over grilled onion) and water no ice. The waiter Julian was very attentive.
Sometimes I order menudo on weekends. Everything is excellent here.

I’m giving a decent rating because Graciela was an attentive and friendly waitress. But the salsa was unbearably spicy. Plus, the vegetarian burrito, which costs $10, rarely had beans. The tortilla was not tasty. It was basically just sour cream and lettuce. How costly can it be to be generous with the refried beans filling? My friend’s street tacos were served lukewarm. The only advantage about this place is that they open through 1 a.m. on weekends.

I have been a la tapatia customer for 30 years now. I used to come to this location then tried the location at Richmond and woodhead. Anyways I just need to comment about this locations food quality. I like to order potato and eggs with avocados tacos. so far three times in a row I order this plate and the eggs come in burnt. I dont know why but this changes the taste of the whole dish. I know the cook is not a bad cook, but I believe he needs to cook like the dish should be cooked and not like he likes them. Also on a side note the servers here are friendly enough but not as friendly as the other servers at the other location. anyways I think I will go back to the other location starting next week.
Cheers

5 stars from the bottom of my heart to this old-school place..
Still as cozy as it used to be back in the 90s when I was in college..
I’m just so attached to this place. Due to their fair prices back in the days, I & many other students like me considered this place as 2nd. home
They used to have a couple of locations, and now they have grown to a big chain of authentic & home-style Mexican restaurant..
It is hard to transform your small family owned restaurant to a franchise business without losing the authenticity & originality of the cuisine, yet these guys have pulled it off with precision.

Great food. Excellent service. The atmosphere was not good not because of the restaurant or the employees. I think is due to the current situation with deporting immigrants that it was eerily empty. I mean, it was good in a sense that we got really fast service and even friendlier service. That’s cool. But it was weird. Just my thoughts.

Their street tacos have to be the worst tacos I’ve had. No seasoning and they were drenched in onion and cilantro as to add somewhat of a flavor since the meat definitely didn’t. They also didn’t even come with salsa or any kind of hot sauce. The fajita plater was the same. Little to no flavor. Refried beans seemed to be from a can or something and just didn’t taste right. The shredded cheese was burned onto the plate. Which means they just threw the plate in the microwave to warm up the whole plate. We didn’t finish our food, paid and left. Would not recommend.
