Date night with hubby and so glad we didn’t have to wait long to be seated by friendly staff. Service was great. Clean and neat environment. Food was great. The fondue appetizer was filling and on point.(delicious) Not really a fan of schnitzel but this pork was yummy. Hubby also enjoyed his schnitzel. We ordered apple strudel for dessert and it was not my cup of tea.. Atleast we know for next time because we will definitely be going back with the kids

Took my daughter here for lunch and we had such a lovely experience. The menu is vast and it’s hard to pick one or two things, so naturally we came home with leftover fondue, potato pancakes, chicken schnitzel strips, fries, and sausage . The wedge salad was great! Loved the house made bleu cheese dressing—it wasn’t too intense.
Food came out quickly and multiple servers came to check on us. We loved our lunch date!

Check this place out if you like German food. Sausages, schnitzels, beer and fondue, it’s all here. The waitress was able to give us information about every beer on the menu. Sauerbraten was delicious. They are open on Thanksgiving as well, and serve a couple of feast options (turkey dinner or prime rib) for about $25 a person. If you don’t feel like cooking all day on Thanksgiving, this might be a favorable alternative.

So.. I’m the Duke on Yelp at the Washington Square restaurant. Not to brag, but I’m kinda a big deal.
With that said I really enjoy having a beer and some of their wonderful fondue. We have tried the regular fondue and then the version which includes beer sausage. They are both good and based on the same fondue but I feel adding the sausage makes it a little too rich. I know that is personal preference.
I feel like whoever does the hiring does a great job finding friendly staff who is always pretty helpful. This time was not an exception. We sat in the bar for happy hour. Everything on their HH menu is decently priced.
There were three of us and we each got a cup of their Beer Onion Soup. Colleen and her friend enjoyed it. I wasn’t a super fan but I can’t put my finger on why. Over all we had a good time and it always makes it better with great company, good food/beer and friendly staff.
**Tip Alert** if you like the fondue and the a beer, try pairing the Spaten Optimator which I believe is a dopple Bock style of beer. It is dark and rich but not super tart like a Guinness. Try a little bread/fondue and finish with a sip of Spaten. You won’t be disappointed in the complex chocolatey notes.

I always wanted to have a good German beer before. I was brought to this German restaurant by a good friend.
The good beer is call : October Fest. Having a good time there, the staff was friendly and sweet too. Love it.

Fantastic! The service was incredible and the food was amazing. The table started with the bread and sausage fondue- which set the tone. The cheese was on point and the sausages would have been just fine solo; but paired…. perfect. I had the pork shnitzel which I could not stop eating untill it was gone. Closed with the chocolate mouse which, along with the huge tasty beers, made this a wunderbar experience. I’ll be back for certain- I recommend Gustav’s whole heartedly.

Incredible ambiance, and decor. The food has really gotten a lot better over the years. Waitstaff very friendly and helpful. The only change I would welcome is more authentic German food and less non-authentic non-German food.
