We are trying all restaurants in Winston this one was our stop for tonight. Cozy atmosphere, it went down hill from there. Irish coffee tasted like water missing coffee and the rich flavor? We ordered the eggs for the appetizer really good but dried out. The fish and chips came all stuck together so you could tell it was frozen. The Reuben sandwich was soggy and missing sauerkraut.
The servers never once asked if the food was alright. This is not a place we recommend or one we will spend money at again.

Good service and the drinks were good too, but I didn’t think that good food was anything to write home about. I got the garlic, mashed potatoes as a side and I was pleasantly surprised when they offered me gravy. However, gravy made the potatoes kind of bad. It was just off or something.

It’s Irish fare. It will get you through a famine but its nothing really to write home about. The service was really good and attentive and the vibe was cozy and charming.

Great Irish place. I highly recommend the corned beef and cabbage; it’s the best I’ve had anywhere. Smithwick’s on draft and a fun atmosphere. No complaints here!

Excellent fish & great steak-cut chips! Superb choice of fairly-priced beers. Friendly service, with outdoor terrace on-street at the front & great patio out back. Recommended!

Amazing atmosphere. Bustling and fun energy. Great wait staff. I wish I would have gotten a burger , but I settled for the shepherds pie and it was subpar, however I waited until 45 minutes before closing to dine, which is not their fault. Also I make shepherd’s pie at home and put lots of cheese and seasonings so I’m used to more cheese and flavor. Plus I’m not a huge fan of lamb when it tastes too gamey which it did. I believe I just picked the wrong dish, no fault of theirs. The spinach and artichoke dip was great! I will definitely go back to try a burger! On the plus side, I had a gentleman pay it forward and cover my meal, so it was no loss!! Perfect area to explore on a weekend , also! Great location.

Lots of great food and service in downtown Winston Salem this past weekend.
Shauna (very fun and helpful with food choices) at Finnegan’s Wake: Dark & Stormy and I had vodka pickle backs, Goat Cheese potato cakes topped with apple butter (fantastic), the “small” Bangers and Mash, Shepherds Pie With a side of Mac n cheese. That Mac looked so good I got some to go for my dinner and it reheated really well!

Pretty solid place for Irish classics. Neat atmosphere too. I had the fish nuggets chips. Very flavorful and good portion size. Would definitely eat here again.

Nice meal. It is more along the lines of comfort food than delectable. Shepherd pie and Scottish eggs are excellent. It was a good experience, though I would not do the eggs again. It’s just personal preference. The pure would be a comfort food repeat.
The atmosphere makes the place. Brett has an authentic Irish pub feel. The wait staff is exceptional in attitude, service, and attentive service.
Overall, I recommend you give theses folks a try.

Finnigan’s Wake, was the go to for fish-n-chips. I have been there twice in the past two months. The service is great, so are the staff. That said, I am not certain what has happened to the fish-n chips and the chicken tenders. They now come out overly dark and crunchy. In the past a golden brown and delicious! Hope they return to the former cooking times. Still like this spot!
