Taco Rico is a great stop in Kansas City if you’re craving bold, satisfying Mexican food. We ordered a spread that let us try a bit of everything, and it all delivered.
The quesabirrias were a standout—crispy, cheesy, and packed with rich, flavorful meat, perfect for dipping and absolutely crave-worthy. The tacos gordos were hearty and filling, loaded with well-seasoned meat and toppings. We also tried the Devil’s Burrito, which lived up to its name with big flavor and a nice kick of heat, while the Burrito Rico was a more classic, comforting option—big, flavorful, and satisfying.
Everything tasted fresh and made to order, with generous portions across the board. Taco Rico is casual, fast, and focused on flavor, making it an easy choice when you want something filling and delicious. We’d definitely go back to try even more from the menu.

best vibes ever. Me and my boyfriend have been coming here since we moved, and after a year of living in the area I can confidently say, this is where we eat the most. It’s always once a week, sometimes up to 3. The family that runs this place is also so kind and sweet 🙂
The menu variety keeps you guessing on what to try next. From new favorites to classics. They have KILLER icecream, lots of snack options, and the items vary in price as well. You can get lunch there for under 10$ if you need to, but a full dinner for us with drinks and apps and large meals it’s always under 40$.
Most slept on place to be frank. I’ve waited this long writing a review just because I would love to gatekeep, but everyone needs rico in their life.

Food is Excellent, the Menudo was the Best I have had in years!! Although we went the other day, although it says pets allowed, I had my ESA pup with me and was told no dogs allowed.. I didn’t argue with them, because it is the best Mexican food I have found.. next time I will let them know she is a ESA pup. We did get the food to go.. we will be back.. we were there before and we dined in a the Food was Fantastic!!

First time trying this place—and we ordered to-go. I specifically requested the Birria tacos with flour tortillas, but got corn tortillas instead. If the food is made fresh and not frozen, why is this such a big ask?! I didn’t request anything unusual—just flour instead of corn.
With past experiences, corn tortillas literally wreck my stomach, so I can’t eat more than a bite without pains. The lack of attention to this small, basic request shows poor customer consideration. Vegans have their own options, yet I can’t get a simple substitution that’s probably sitting right next to the corn tortillas?
Honestly, this kind of carelessness ruins the experience. I won’t be returning and I’ll be letting others know. The little things make a huge difference.

The food has been pretty decent the few times that they have been open during listed business hours. With that said, I have tried to go during listed business hours, five times in a row, and they have not been open. Today, the sign on the door said they will open at 1 o’clock. Why even bother? By the way, it’s taco Tuesday. Update. I showed up at 11:45. Closed. I decided to give this place one more try. Showed up at 11:20, and the sign on the door says open at noon. Peace out!
