My husband and I had been wanting to visit this place for a year and decided that today would be the day to go. Upon entering, you pay at the register and order your drink. Then you sit wherever you like. When we first arrived there was a group of ten people sitting in there. Then fifteen minutes later a group of 20 people came in. This let me know, if you are willing to wait for enough tables, they can accommodate large groups. We initially came here because a YouTuber recommended the place. He was not a local, so his review was not accurate for New Orleanians and our taste buds! The taste of the food was hit or miss depending on what you got. Since I don’t eat beef or pork, there were lots of things I could not eat. The beans, cabbage, and gumbo all had pork, beef, or both as an ingredient. My husband, who eats everything, said the gumbo wasn’t bad. My daughter said the cabbage was ok. The red beans and the bread pudding, according to my husband was tasty. The fish had spice on it, but was also bland. I don’t know if you get that! The broccoli and whole corn was good, but the mashed potatoes was salty. The fried chicken had a great crunch on the outside and was juicy on the inside. The wait staff were older ladies, who were friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Diane, our waitress, checked on us many times throughout our visit, even with the group of twenty that showed up after us! Although the service was good, the food choices for me were slim, and what was eaten was just ok. It wasn’t a horrible visit, but i probably won’t return due to lack of food choices and sub-par tastings.

In town visiting family at hospital and tired if hospital food. Decided to venture out in the area. And oh so glad we did. LA Purchase Restaurant was 1 of many that showed up on Google map. And we are so glad we came here. Wonderful attentive staff. The atmosphere was indeed welcoming. Now let’s get to this wonderful display of foods. The variety and selection was amazing. Between us we had the fried chicken, fried fish, good sweet country cornbread, red beans, cabbage, spinach dip, Salisbury steak with beautiful brown gravy, corn, rice and salad..NOBODY had a complaint about anything. There was much more food to select from(this is just what our table enjoyed). It definitely was worth the drive to and we definitely will be returning when visiting this area again. Highly recommend

Hm, this review is based on VALUE. It’s quite exceptional.
I will not say everything is 5 out of 5 but most items are 5s. It is dependent upon your taste buds. Things I enjoyed were the corn in the bbq shrimp (more than the shrimp bc if the shrimp sits too long, it felt a little crumbly). However, most of my friends loved the shrimp bc growing up in the south and Houston but moved to Utah, they still know great flavor.
I liked the gumbo. Soulful. Peppery. Thick. Lots of okra. Good stuff. The cabbage with hammock slaps very delish along side the fried fish and fried chicken.
The bread budding with rum sauce is very very decadent so put the sauce on the side. And then dip the bread pudding. Corn bread? I like their style a lot. It has a slight crisp to it and a bit sweet — which is how I like it.
Service. Very friendly and always helpful in refilling drinks and removing plates. Great place. Note: I would not come here more than 3x a year bc it’s dripping in flavor, butter, and spices so health wise, I shouldn’t. But once in awhile, enjoy!

Top Notch Cajun Food served in a all you can eat buffet for the price of a fast food hamburger meal.
The fried catfish is on par or better than Middendorf’s in Manchac. The gumbo is a favorite as well. But its all good.
The wait staff is superb! Unlike most buffets where they only look at taking away the dirty dishes, these folks give you regular sit down restaurant service.
Always fresh and hot with delicious deserts included!

I go on Wednesday for their menu and i get a little of everything. There is not a single thing i don’t like here. Their food totally has a home cook vibe. I really love their jambalaya, gumbo, etouffe, boudin, fried chicken, cornbread, and their bread pudding with rum sauce is to die for. It’s the absolute best way to end such a tasty meal. The service is excellent. All the staff are helpful and pleasant and quick to take away plates and give refills, even offering a to go drink. Their prices are the absolute best too. You really can’t beat it. I can’t wait to come back every time.

I discovered this gem a few years ago after flying in to NOLA airport from Houston. I’ve been dining here ever since when I fly back in. The food is always fresh, restaurant is always clean, and service is friendly. The buffet has a large variety of homestyle southern cooking and is kept well stocked.
I felt this would be a perfect place to host my mom’s milestone birthday dinner, so I reached out to them via their website to inquire about booking the restaurant for a private event. The experience EXCEEDED my expectations. The restaurant closed to the public for my dinner and I am still receiving positive feedback about the good time everyone had. My mom was the happiest I had ever seen her. The co-owner, Amy, was VERY pleasant to work with from planning in Feb. thru the dinner date in July. She was very responsive to emails/texts, open to all of my ideas, and had a few of her own. This helped tremendously with planning a dinner long distance. Amy and the staff also helped with setting up reserved tables and my decorations for the dinner. Kelly, the manager, was extremely helpful throughout the evening and after dieing clean up. 40+ people fit very comfortably and all guests made it through the buffet line in 15 min!! Silverware was placed on the tables beforehand, and drink orders were taken and filled quickly. The entire staff, from Kelly to the wait staff to the cook, made us feel welcomed and we’ll taken care of. Lousiana Purchase staff is the epitome of work “family.” I witnessed the staff conversing and having a good time behind the scenes even when they didn’t know anyone was watching. 🙂 I am a forever patron of Louisiana Purchase Kitchen.

We stopped for lunch during our visit to New Orleans for the 49ers game. The food was fresh, hot and GOOD. My husband and I are born and raised in New Orleans but live in Texas, so to come home to some GOOD food and southern hospitality is a plus. Our waitres Ms.Irama was awesome and very attentive. We enjoyed chatting with her and she took good care of us.We will be back!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here, with it being a buffet in this price range. Everything we ate here felt on-par with or better than some other casual made-to-order restaurants. There were multiple protein options including fish, chicken, and beef. Everything tasted good. The salad bar could have been a little fresher looking, but I don’t think most people are coming here for lettuce anyways. The bread pudding with rum sauce was quite good as well. Service was friendly and very attentive. This is probably the best bang for buck in the area.

I was on a roadtrip with friends in the summer of 2025. We drove over 8000 miles in 25 days from New York to Los Angeles. The best meal we enjoyed during our vacation was in the Louisiana Purchase Kitchen. The staff was warm, friendly and very helpful and the food was completely from another planet. I tried everything and my taste buds just fell in love. One dish especially that I have craved ever since visiting the Louisiana Purchase Kitchen was their amazing bread pudding and rum sauce. Absolutely fantastic! If I ever have the chance to visit Louisiana again in my life, I will plan my route so that I may visit again the Louisiana Purchase Kitchen and relive the best culinary experience I had in the summer of 2025.
