Outstanding/authentic Mexican food in the former Denny’s. This was our second time here – the last time over a year ago and the quality remains the same: outstanding. The chips were crisp with a mild red sauce, the entrees we ordered were excellent: Enchiladas Trio, and the Build your own combo with taco was delicious. The Margaritas were nicely prepared – espcially the Billionaire Margarita.

By far the best Mexican restaurant around. I eat here weekly. Fajitas are wowzers. Protein bowls I crave around lunchtime. Amazing crew. Food is top notch, and will make a michelin chef blush. Don’t get me started on the bloody Mary’s. This is the go to for amazing food and drinks.

Stopped here after our day visit to Joshua Tree National Park. We ordered the fajitas for 2 with steak and carnitas. It was a large hot serving of the mixed meat. The steak had a delicious smoky flavor and the carnitas was also very flavorful. They served a plate of arroya, refried beans, guacamole, Pico de gallo and sour cream. I’m not a fan of refried beans but the hubby enjoyed them. I loved the arroya, guacamole, and Pico de gallo. Chips and salsa were also delicious. For dessert I ordered the sopapillas to go and it came with honey and ice cream. Also very delicious! Our server was very friendly and refilled our drinks. The restaurant was good!

We ordered lime shrimp and steak fajitas. Everything was super delicious especially the shrimp. They came in large portions as well. Service was prompt.

We were looking for a place on the way back to San Diego from Joshua Tree National Park.
Figured we’d try it. Took a bit to get seated, seemed to be short staffed, but everyone was super friendly.
Food was pretty good, much better than the average Mexican cuisine we have back home.
Shrimp fajitas were very good.

This place appears to be poorly managed. They had 1-2 servers for the entirety of the restaurant on a weekend. There was a miscommunication between our server and the kitchen, so the meals were delayed even further. Also, they charge fees for additional baskets of chips and salsa. However, we didn’t finish our first complimentary serving since the salsa tasted as if it was canned/jarred. I recommend skipping this place.

First off I’m local, this place is good and has good food. Im only voicing this because it rubs me the wrong way.

Charging for chips and salsa, also giving small portions of chips only to have people request more.

I get this for chip and salsa wasters..(i love salsa and practically drink it) but this should be a small item to offer when coming in to spend roughly 20 dollars a plate.
Also warm chips is always a great thing to offer, if you can in the future.

Summary.. stop charging for chips and salsa please or maybe free chips and salsa with purchase. Something to consider. I’d rather leave you a larger tip than feel i should take from that to pay for salsa.

Either way i will be back. Good food. Not reflecting the employees in any way.

Good luck la casita azul

Food was not good… Not a fan at all. Service was worse. Our waitress took our order after us standing in line waiting to be seated for about 15min. However, There were so many booths available.. She gave us our drinks and didn’t even remember who ordered what.. So here we are exchanging our drinks to the correct person. She forgot our chips with our guacamole.. Never came back to see if we were ok. She also forgot our lemons, our plates, and our to go boxes. She also gave us another tables check.. (Our bill $50 ..their Bill $195)
Food and service were not good.
However I don’t think they will be changing anything any time soon.. So we will not be back ever! Taco Bell has better food and I don’t like that either.. However for those who give this business their business.. Enjoy!!

We came here last year during our winter stay, and have been thinking about it since! When we arrived this year we knew it’s where we needed to go! it was super busy when we came in (understandable the night before thanksgiving) but we were still greeted immediately.. being told it would be about a 10 minute wait.. which was more than okay!! we knew what we were waiting for!! And would be worth it… We were then seated shortly after.. our drink order was taken upon seating, and then received them faster than I would expect at a slow restaurant. .. was honestly both shocked and delighted! Our server Claudia was attentive and kind!
As someone who has worked in service for 17 years, I will continue to recommend and frequent this place!! Also … the fajitas are so so good! Great service, chips and salsa pop off. EAT HERE !! SO GOOD!
