You DON’T want to order pupusas here!

Trust me if you want pupusas this is the wrong spot. The pupusas its self was super oily and the filling was underwhelming. If you’re Salvadoran you know what makes a good pupusas is the masa and how it’s prepared. The filling should use fresh ingredients because that’s the point of a pupusas. It’s a simple but delicious dish because of how you prepare the ingredients. For some reason this place adds chili flakes in the Curtido, like what?!? El Salvador isn’t know for using chilies or heat in there dishes, like no traditional food has heat in it at all. Also there curtido is purple colored which you only really see in border town near Guatemala because that how it’s made in that country.

This isn’t Salvador food at all, if you can’t get a pupusas right I don’t even want to try anything else. Big disappointment and I won’t return, plus got heartburn from all the oil.

Visits: Every weekend for the past 6 months

I’ve been a loyal customer of Luna Maya, visiting nearly every weekend for half a year. Sadly, the quality of service has noticeably declined.
• 10/25: The plantains were burned, but I didn’t complain. What stood out more was the slow service — I waited about 20 minutes after finishing my meal, and no one cleared the table or brought the check. I eventually had to get up and pay myself.
• 11/2: The food plating was sloppy enough that I had to rearrange the plantains to make them look more appetizing. Once again, I had to ask for the check, and the table was left uncleared even after that (see attached photo).

The food still tastes authentic, but the declining attention to detail and slow service are disappointing — especially for returning customers.

I ordered the caldo de pata which only has 2-3 pieces or pata , 2 of pansa. I couldn’t eat it because it was hard to chew , no good flavor either. We got a breakfast and they meat is so chewy! The beans seems like bean water . Not worth it . Won’t be coming back. I told the waiter about the non edible pata and she pretty much said oh well .

So I ordered food on Grub Hub, ordered the night before so I could swing by before work. First off parking for this location is horrible, had to park on the street. Walked in food was not ready, I had a pick up time of 10:30am was already 10:45 and ordered not ready, probably not even printed out. Left a few minutes after 11am. Food was good, service was good but come on I ordered ahead of time.

The food isn’t the issue here… It’s very enjoyable and authentic. However the service is a bit slow. We had to wait a good while before we saw our server again. It was busy so I think they were stretched thin. Another thing to be aware of is they consider a party of 6 a large party and they charge an automatic tip. I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere, but maybe I missed it. I don’t consider that a big party, but I’m ok with it if my table is being checked on regularly. It also didn’t sit well with me that my 6th person was my 1 yr old. So, take the good with the bad if you come here.

To be honest i leved going to this place. The service was nice and fast, the food was so good and the prices were reasonable, but my last experience was not good at all. They took more than 30 minutes to have my food ready and when they finally took it to my table the order was wrong. Plus I had to call their attention to ask for more coffee when they were just sitting there talking to each other. And of top of that when I got the check the prices were extremely higher than last time and on the receipt they already added the tip without even asking. To be honest I don’t mind paying for my food as long as I receive a good service and the food I ordered. To be honest so disappointed of this place.

I was brought here by a friend who lives in the area and likes this place.

Clean, service and food was amazing.

We got a soup that unfortunately we forgot the name but was soo good, Hot Tortillas came along, plenty of lime and chopped onions at the side.

We also ordered a Michelada which was huge sine we ordered it with a Salvadorian Beer and we didn’t know it was a 1 litter presentation.

Happy overall with the visit.

Nice spot for pupusas. Evenly priced like most places.

Very clean place, and very well lit and inviting. They have beer and a sit up bar, unlike most Salvadorean restaurants, so if you wanna go for a beer with your food, this is for you.
