Sortino’s brings to Sandusky a tradition of hospitality established by Giorgio and Giacomo Sortino more than 60 years ago when they opened the original Sortino’s Little Italy. My boyfriend and I decided to take a little getaway trip to kalihari. One of our favorite things to do together is sit down for a nice meal. When booking our trip we were looking at the restaurants Kalahari has to offer and this one caught our eye. I made a reservation a few weeks in advance (very easy to do on Open Table). All the excitement leading up to eating here was well worth it!
To start, the service was amazing! Our server was friendly and funny, but also didn’t breathe down our neck the entire meal lol. It was a very relaxed atmosphere – really didn’t feel like we were at Kalahari. And lastly, the food was mouthwatering! We were in shock because usually restaurants in an amusement park don’t have the best food… but this one truly surprised us!
Would drive an hour to just go to this restaurant for the day lol (and ride some rides).
10/10 recommend!!!!

LOVED IT!!! Focaccia Garlic herb w EVOO, two pizzas so yummy, filet mignon pasta mafia, and Mediterranean pasta with sirloin. All so satisfying and the meat melts in your mouth, great flavors, and wonderful warm service .. loved Matt he was so good and friendly.

We dine here every year on vacation and have had good experiences in the past. Unfortunately this year our entire table agreed just did not work out this time. For the good, the food came out quickly after our order, approx 10-25min. However, everyone had the ehhh the flavor is ok at best vibe. the fettuccine Alfredo had a weird taste. The chicken parm pasta was good but the chicken itself was not good at all. Our service was well intentioned and tried hard but he had many tables while we saw numerous others standing around.

Have to say I thought the 1500+ reviews were smoke coming from tons of guests just happy the kids were willing to eat. Now 1500 plus reviews is a life goal as I was wrong. A friend recommended this bread my wife ordered and we had buttered noodles for the little and it was a single serving that was more than enough for 2. I have the penne à la vodka sauce and it was tasty. U fortunately I waited too long so I did get to either it still wet but the noodles haven soaked in the sauce and were still delicious. Cream of the crop as the lasagna bolognese. My wife ordered it and it was and 8” x 8” block 2+” deep and all of it was delicious. The whole family was thrilled. We ordered take out and the bartender was friendly and very personable. It was near enough to closing and yet he had probably a 15 minute conversation with me and never even once gave any indication he didn’t want to be right there in that conversation which says a lot because I am not that interesting to talk to. We come back once a year and usually do great wolf lodge with no complaints aside from the cost for basic food and basic drink. This meal has us thinking next year we will try Kalahari as the winter water resort. Since we will eat here again.

Let’s talk about exceptional experience. I should start with the kind heart of the bartender Jason. After several hours of swimming I wanted that antipasto salad but I was with a child and 20 minutes early. He invited me to seat and wait. At 5pm, he took my order and made the best limoncello basil martini.
Short and simple conversation. He has cool glasses.
I ordered the martini, antipasto and the chicken pesto pizza and the experience was a 10/10.
The manager also stopped by and he was also super nice.
In this world good customer service is hard to come by so to have exceptional service is a lot to be said. Thanks Jason and kitchen.

Our waiter David was amazing. A super nice person with a great sense of humor. We appreciated him so much. He obviously works very hard and even stayed super late when we were supposed to have a really bad snow storm. I hope the restaurant treats him well because he’s definitely one of the best workers they could ask for. The world needs more people like him. Thanks for being awesome David from Colombia!

On a Sunday night. Great service. The food was amazing and huge portions. I had the 3 cheese tortellini with chicken (creamy garlic sauce with a touch of pesto) , and my hubby had the chicken Parmesan. We were able to take half home for a second meal because of the amount. Worth the money

This was an amazing experience. We celebrated our son’s 11th birthday here while staying at Kalahari. Everything was beyond our expectations, especially how well Cathy took care of us. She made the night special for us. We plan to come back every visit…maybe every night were there! It was the best food and service at the entire resort.

Wow, who would have thought the best Italian food would be at Kalahari? The dishes were absolutely amazing, and the chicken parm was hands down the best we’ve ever had! A special shoutout to Cathy, our server, who was incredibly kind and warm. She made our experience truly memorable, even going out of her way to take family pictures and help us capture the magic of celebrating my wife’s birthday. Her customer service went above and beyond, and she truly made our visit extra special. We can’t wait to return and enjoy more wonderful meals here!
