For a long time the chorizo asada fries were so good. But recently idk what they did but they changed the recipe of the chorizo or something because now the chorizo is sweet and not spicy. It completely ruined the whole meal. I don’t know what changed but it is not good at all now.

Been to this Tacos El Unico before a number of times like the many others around town! This locations food is top notch and always great quality.
This Up ‘N Smoke menu though, it premiered May 3, 2023 and I am lucky enough to have tried it today. It was delicious! Everything. Literally, I tried every item. I have not been this satisfied at a Mexican taco spot or restaurant in a while.
Taco: I ordered two smoked brisket tacos and everything just blended together perfectly. The Sonoran style tortilla, the Monterrey jack cheese slaw (incredible flavor) and delicious salsa macha to boot? You need to try them. It was like a party in my mouth and everyone was invited! I wish I would have ordered 6.
Taquito: the order came with 3, and they looked different. The tortilla was blue! But then I bit into the first one and woah. The pickled red onions gave them a special kick. A pleasant surprise actually. They were very fulfilling too. Nicely made. Quality. Like with all the items from the Up ‘N Smoke menu I ordered, everything looked like it was put together with care and precision.
Smoked Fries: yes, I ordered the fries too. I eat a lot. At this point I was full but I kept eating and I was grateful I did. The smoked brisket pieces on the fries were so delicious. So tender. So tasty, flavorful. Juicy. High quality tasting. I grabbed some salsa macha on the side to put on the fries and it complemented the meal well. The cheese sauce is always a nice touch too.
All in all I am going back just to eat these new items again. I was already a huge Tacos Del Unico fan before but this menu hits the spot for when you want something different. Unique. Tasty. High quality. It just all works. Try the smoked brisket tacos first and then go from there. I totally recommend this new menu and all the items. Did I say they are tasty?

Edit 02/01/21 Used to be my favorite restaurant but over the last year they dropped in quality. I don’t know if they want to turn people away or give us cardiac arrest, but the food is not appealing. Once you get the aluminum foil off the tacos and burritos are drenched in grease and impossible for anyone to eat without wanting to gag. Too greasy. Today I tried giving it another go and and I had to throw my food away it was too greasy and the asada tasted sour so I didn’t wanna risk it. $16 to the trash. I’ll go to the one on Atlantic & Florence, great taste no greasy tortillas and 4 tacos combo.

Great Mexican food. Love the breakfast burrito with Asada. They have good chipotle onions that go well with the tacos. Only con is that they always seem to be under remodeling.

FIRST TIME STOPPING HERE ROLLED RIGHT INTO THE DRIVE THRU. ORDERED ME A CARNE ASADA QUESADILLA WITH A HORCHATA EASY ICE WITH GREEN SALSA. DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO TAKE A PHOTO. SMELLED AND TASTE SO GOOD.

This is the worse torta I had in my life no meat a ton of bread I ended up using the bottom half of the bread and there was still plenty of bread compared to the meat ratio I guess they really trying to save money at this establishment I never leave reviews but after this sorry torta I had to take the time wrote a review my advice go to tacos gavilan better dont waste your money here

Don’t bother trying the Up n Smoke pop up. Look at the picture I took of my brisket tacos… the slaw was absolutely disgusting. The brisket was dry. Zero flavor. Just don’t do it.

There’s just no way! This is why I stopped going to this location. The price went up and the burritos got smaller. The audacity this location has is just out of this world. King Taco isn’t so bad anymore. King Taco was the King of making small burritos and El Unico said “Hold my beer!”. I didn’t order the JR burrito from there secret menu. This can’t be a one time thing as this is the 3rd time this happens.

When it comes to tacos, I will choose Tacos El Unico for there good quality meat. But today 7/11/25 at 7pm sheeesh the lady from the drive thru, had bad customer service with bad attitude. Hopefully next time there will be good positive customer service. Her name was Edith by the way.
