Wow! Overpriced waste of ⏲️ ⛽ & .
Today was my 1st time visiting. Before I decided to stay, I looked around, selection seemed meager but I was hungry. I asked to be seated and the waitress guided me to the front to pay 1st.
Let me stop here to say what was good about the experience because there’s not much to say.
They have cute KISSING FISH in the front foyer. (Someone posted videos of them, cute)
Waitress FANTASTIC! Bathroom clean.
Creamed Spinich with cheese melted on top was Great, I got a scoop 3 times! Very thick.
Onion Rings. Crispy, Great for the frozen minced onion kind.
Stuffed muscles. Very Good balanced flavor. Breading had a nice crunch.
Crab Casserole Good. Very soft, not dence, almost fluffy.
LoMein. Good. Overcooked, dry and some pieces crunchy. I like that.
Sweet Plantains. Good
Corn Acceptable
with linguine Alfredo was acceptable but the shrimp was overcooked and a bit hard.
White Rice Acceptable.
It was 1:30 PM on a Friday afternoon and there was only one person dining that I could see in there before me. I should have took that as a hint. The Hibachi grill was closed.
I start eating, and everything seemed to taste the same, flavorless. I finally figured out, and confirmed with an employee that I was eating Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in the Chinese menu options. I like that stuff in my Doritos and my Cheetos but not in my Chinese food. (Note to self, b4 trying a new buffet, call ahead to see if they use MSG)
Chicken Wing. I had to spit it out. It tasted like it was previously frozen, dry & overcooked.
The tomato sauce used in the eggplant rollatini, chicken parm and meatball was terrible. It reminded me of the sause in CHEF BOYARDEE.
Meatball Inedible.
I was very disappointed in the Sesame Chicken/Gen Tso’s besides having no flavor, and even though it was swimming in liquid, the chicken was so dry I had to spit it out.
Seaweed Salad. I have never had sweet Seaweed Salad, it bewildered me, I was afraid to eat another bite.
❓I didn’t even try the Sushi, there was 3, maybe 4 different rolls displayed.
Fried Rice
Salt & Pepper Chicken
I found myself so unthrilled I caught myself shaking my head and even saying “NO” out loud, talking to myself after each tasteless and bad item.
Lunch was $13.99 and with tax and drink was over $17. Way too high of a cost for the quality of food served. I would go back again only if your paying!
I have no clue how this place got so many 5☆ reviews. Maybe the head chef is on vacation and the owners nephew with no food experience was covering his shift?
On my way home I got a text back from a friend that lives in the area.
“I told you to avoid that place. That’s the worst buffet ever. I’ve been sick there like 3 times. It’s what made me start looking for alternatives even on my bicycle”
Now I know why they had me pay first, cause I was tempted to stop eating half way through and ask for a refund.
The good news is I did not even get an upset stomach. They should sell t-shirts that say “I survived the La Grande Experience”
Lastly, after my meal I was snapping pics of the building and I noticed our countries flag on top of the building all torn and tattered. Not cool.
