It’s been quite awhile since I’ve gone to a Steak N Shake, but we were in the vicinity and wanted something different. We pulled into the (EMPTY) drive thru, and took a moment to decide what we wanted before pulling around to the speaker box. We were curly acknowledged and told to “look over the menu” – which we did some more while we waited to be able to place our order. Again, it was Empty. As we sat, nearly long enough for me to decide we should just go elsewhere, a line of 4 other cars built up behind us – at which point we were finally given the opportunity to order. Again, it was the same unwelcoming and irritated sounding individual. Not to be discouraged, having waited this long already, we placed our orders and pulled around. The individual at the window maintained an irritable demeanor, but the woman who brought us our shakes was pleasant and sweet, almost as if she was trying to counter her co-workers grumpiness – and when we got our food, it was piping hot and fresh and (surprisingly) quite tasty. By this time I honestly had expected something to be missing or incorrectly made, or just dried out and over cooked. But everything was quite good. Overall, if it hadn’t been for the excessive wait and foul mood of the drive-thru attendant, I would have rated the experience much higher.

I had the Garlic single steak burger and fries. The garlic sauce they have on that burger was absolutely delicious. And the garlic butter on tops of the bun top it off perfectly. The woman who took my order was very kind and made sure everything was correct on our order! This was a mother daughter lunch with my mom, grandmother, my step daughter, my husband, and myself. My grandmother had the same thing I did and normally she doesn’t eat all her food and take some home but not this time! We also got milk shakes I got chocolate my grandmother got strawberry and my step daughter gotten cookies and cream. They were quite cooling for such a hot day! Our waitress was a delight as well making sure our table was good to go. We had went on Friday the 6th.

Ordered some shakes via Door Dash. They were delicious! Had the Reese and the Oreo. The consistency was very good. I loved the Oreo and really liked the Reese. Shared them with my girlfriend, and she preferred the Oreo as well. I have been inside and the place is nice with good service… at least a couple years ago! I believe their shakes are a little better than Sonic because they taste more natural. I definitely recommend if you want a sweet treat!

Our burgers, fries, and onion rings were cooked perfect as always. Their milkshakes are always the best. This location has always been a good place to eat. We have one in our town about 7 miles from our house, but always choose this location to eat. It is so much better than ours in our town. The food is better, the staff is friendlier, and the restaurant is cleaner.

I don’t know if it’s just this location near me or all, but I cannot stand that you have to wait at the counter and order (at the same place you check out!) and then go seat yourself. What if I can’t stand to look at the menu before I order?! It makes you feel rushed and like you can’t take your time. Here is a great example of a visit I had:
There were 2 people placing an order in front of me. One was deaf and when the cashier would ask a question, the one person would sign and ask the other and the deaf person would sign back with their answer & the person would relay what they said. This took several minutes. They were there before I had walked in. I felt bad for them bc not only was I standing there with my husband to order, but there was another person who came up to pay. The cashier seemed a bit aggravated or maybe annoyed bc it was taking too long.
Oh and let me add that once we placed our order & sat ourselves, it was 45minutes BEFORE we got our meal!!! And drink wise, I ordered a shake and I didn’t even get that until AFTER I got my meal AND the consistency wasn’t even smoothie consistency, it literally was a little thicker than pre-made chocolate milk. This was such a disappointment bc S&S shakes are usually always awesome. And let’s not forget when they were bringing out orders to the tables they were having to say what the order was & people would have to say “over hear” & signal the person.
After this visit, as it seems to have went downhill from my last visit, my questions are:
Is S&S doing this to save money?
Are we doing this bc we are short staffed?
I will end this by saying: Do better Steak & Shake. Bring back the service you USED to have. I get its not a restaurant like Olive Garden, but it’s also not a McDonald’s. I expect this from McDs but have always held S&S to a higher standard.

The ladies who are the waitresses are so kind and sweet. I’ve been coming to Steak ‘n Shake for 8yrs now. My favorite fast food place.
