Tokyo Joe is one of my go-to sushi spots, and it never disappoints. I keep coming back because their sushi tastes truly authentic and reflects real Japanese quality. The ingredients are fresh, the rolls are well-balanced, and the flavors are consistently excellent.
On my most recent visit, I ordered one salmon avocado roll, two house rolls, two spicy salmon rolls, a dynamite roll, and an Alaska roll—all for just $65. That’s an amazing deal considering the quality and portion sizes.
The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the dining experience even better. While the seating and service area is a bit tight, it doesn’t take away from the overall experience.
If you’re looking for authentic Japanese sushi at reasonable prices with great service, Tokyo Joe is definitely worth visiting.

Such an awesome place. The owners are super awesome, I used to go here growing up since i was three and the lady even taught me how to use chopsticks. They got rid of their signing musical fish unfortunately though. We do not live the BC anymore, but every time we make the long drive back to visit, we make sure to stop by this restaurant. The service is so quick too. Literally the only cons about this place is that i wish i lived closer to it and that it still had the singing fish

Tokyo Joe Sushi was decent overall, but it didn’t really stand out in Richmond’s crowded sushi scene. The rolls and nigiri were fine and service was solid, but the pricing felt a bit steep for what you get, especially when there are plenty of other Richmond spots offering similar or better quality for less. It’s not bad by any means, but the value proposition just isn’t very compelling compared to the competition. Also it’s cash or debit only.

I ordered a party tray of sushi here for my son’s party, and I also bought my own dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The sushi was absolutely delicious! Since the party was on a boat, the staff kindly provided extra chopsticks and soy sauce for over a dozen people. We were even given a complimentary box of edamame when we opened the order.
I will definitely be ordering from you again for future parties.
“Thank you so much!”

Although we ordered takeout, the sushi roll was in perfect shape. The White Tiger Roll is delicious, but a bit pricey. It’s filled with fried shrimp tempura and imitation crab, then topped with fresh avocado slices and ebi shrimp. However, eight pieces of sushi are enough for two people to enjoy a light snack.

Such great quality and really quick service. The sashimi cuts have been craving for more! Complimentary miso soup and tea, where else can you get that?
I always stop by when I’m in town.

Here’s a nice review for Tokyo Joe’s, highlighting their sashimi and sushi, affordability, free parking, customer service, and selection:
A fantastic spot for fresh and delicious Japanese food, Tokyo Joe’s is a true gem. I’ve been on the hunt for a place that serves top-quality sashimi and sushi without breaking the bank, and Tokyo Joe’s has exceeded all my expectations.
The sashimi is incredibly fresh, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and sliced to perfection. The sushi rolls are equally impressive, with a wide variety of creative and classic options to choose from. Each piece is crafted with care, and you can truly taste the quality of the ingredients.
Beyond the incredible food, the experience is made even better by the genuinely friendly and attentive staff. The customer service is excellent, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door.
To top it all off, the prices are incredibly affordable for the quality and portion sizes you receive. Plus, the convenience of free parking is a huge bonus. If you’re a fan of authentic Japanese cuisine and appreciate a wide selection, great service, and great value, Tokyo Joe’s is the place to go. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to go back!

We wanted to find a simple sushi place that was good and not too expensive. Joe’s hit the spot, the sushi and sashimi was really good, not the best sushi ever, but good value. The house roll was good, huge roll… the black dragon was really yummy, they warmed the unagi which added to the taste. The miso soup was good, not too salty as well, free if you dine in. The sashimi was good quality, didn’t smell fishy. The salmon was our fav, melts in your mouth and bigger slices reminds me of Sushi Garden restaurant. Staff was really friendly. Parking is limited in the back the place was clean and quaint, small family restaurant, which we both enjoy, Simple. And they only take cash or debit only, no credit. If I’m in the area again, I’ll be back.
