The Mediterranean dish was not to our liking, lack any flavor,

I liked the smokey old fashioned (see picture) and the pretzel (see pic) was the best pretzel I ever had in my life. No joke. Wings were great, I did the dry rub then added buffalo sauce myself. The caesar salad was solid too. I also recommend you try the homemade root beer.
We had no room left for dessert. If you like music ask Tyler about his background as he has some interesting insights I could relate to.
I really like the way the restaurant itself feels and is decorated. They put the football game on for me, which is always nice.
I have nothing but good things to say and we will be back soon.
We ordered Mac-n-Cheese, Ahi Poke Bowl, Baja Fish Tacos, and Hot Cider .
It’s good to be back.
Loved that street corn came as a side for the tacos, great flavor. I wish i saw this more often. The only thing with the food was the Mahi tacos had too much sauce and put down first instead of on top, which caused the tortilla to soak up the sauce and split, making it difficult to eat.
Sat outside, which I’d assume is your busiest spot. Thus, you’d put your most experienced servers. Ours was not. Every server has an off day. My wife was a server for nearly 20 years. Ours seemed to be newer and had a hard time keeping up. He’d only visit one table at a time, then go back in vs. stopping at a couple at a time to maximize his efficiency. Most tables just need a quick item.
Beer flights come with up to 7 pours on the holder, which is nice. Good beer, better than most “tourist breweries”.
Limited outdoor seating. Larger groups could sit inside.
From the moment we arrived, the service set a positive tone for the visit. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly familiar with both the beer menu and the food offerings. They were helpful in guiding us through the brewery’s house-made beers and took time to explain the different styles available. That level of engagement immediately elevated the experience beyond a typical casual brewpub visit.
The beer selection itself was impressive and well executed. Cold Water Brewery produces a range of house brews that showcase balance and technical control rather than overly experimental flavors. The pale ales and IPAs offered bright hop character without becoming overly bitter, while the darker beers delivered richer malt profiles with smooth finishes. It was clear that the brewing team focuses on producing beers that are approachable but still distinctive, which works well in a setting that attracts both locals and visitors.
The food menu complemented the beer program nicely. The dishes leaned toward elevated comfort food with generous portions and thoughtful preparation. Items like burgers, grilled meats, and hearty appetizers were presented with attention to flavor balance and texture. The kitchen clearly understands how to design dishes that pair well with craft beer, allowing both the food and the beverages to enhance each other rather than compete.
The overall atmosphere added to the experience. The dining room maintained a lively but controlled energy, making it a comfortable place to relax after a day exploring Lake Tahoe. The combination of good food, well-made beer, and friendly service creates an environment where guests can easily spend an extended evening enjoying the menu.
What stood out most about Cold Water Brewery and Grill was the consistency across all aspects of the visit. The brewing program, kitchen execution, and hospitality all worked together to create a cohesive experience. It did not feel like a restaurant that simply added a brewery component or a brewery that happens to serve food. Instead, it felt like a thoughtfully integrated concept where each part supports the other.
Overall, Cold Water Brewery and Grill delivers a polished craft brewery experience with strong culinary support and a welcoming atmosphere that fits perfectly within the South Lake Tahoe dining scene. For anyone visiting the area and looking for a place that combines quality house-made beer with satisfying food and attentive service, it is absolutely worth a stop.
