First time at Mike’s today. It was our Valentine’s outing. I got the fish and shrimp with a sweet potato and sweet tea. It included one trip to the salad bar. My husband got the loaded potato skins and a cheeseburger poyboy. He loved both. I thought the potato skins were just ok, nothing to rave about. I loved the salad bar. There are a LOT of options. They have an all you can eat option, but I just wanted to try it for the first time. I may go for the all you can eat at some point. For my fish and shrimp dinner, i was not impressed. The sweet potato was a little over done for me but it was ok. The fish had no seasoning what so ever! I found it extremely bland and didn’t want to finish it. However, it would be great if you cant eat spicy or salty food and it was not really greasy. The shrimp were not much better for me, but again, great for someone with diet restrictions on spicy or salty. The hush puppies were perfect for me! I dont like onions or spicy b in them and these were plain just the way I like them. I would definitely come back to try the poboys and salad bar again.

The best catfish!!! Such a nice quiet place to go eat with friends! Service is above and beyond and the food is always delicious! Have gone so many times in the last 30 years and hope to go more for the next 30 years!! Will always highly recommend this restaurant whenever friends and aquaintances are in the Amite City area!!

Order was wrong items were left out of the box I was told that I got extra to substitute for what was missing which was not true the owners wife said it was nothe she could do about it because I didnt bring the food back

The breeze outside is beginning to feel like Fall to me, and my husband and I decided on Mike’s Seafood in Amite, LA for a little Gumbo and Shrimp & Corn Bisque for lunch. Of course, the Sunday church crowd had the dining room full, and we got on the waiting list for a table. The crowd moves in and out fast, so our wait time was only about 10 minutes or so. Our waitress Jennifer, sweet as apple pie was quick to the table to get our order in and kept our drink glass full. The menu has a variety of entrees with the specialty being fried, grilled seafood that includes shrimp, catfish, oysters, soups and salads and much more. The salad bar is my favorite. The lettuce is shredded just like I like it and there are plenty of toppings to build a delicious bowl of salad. This restaurant never disappoints and has plenty of options for your taste buds. It is a local “Go To” for seafood.

This review is specifically for the so-called seafood gumbo. The fried catfish at this venue is always awesome, but I wanted to eat light and ordered the gumbo. This I guess was tomato based but was pretty much a Campbell’s tomato soup can with a few tiny shrimp in it. Maybe this restaurant is too close to Mississippi, but they have no idea what a gumbo is. Don’t waste your money on this soup.

Came in town for a funeral and decide to stop here with my family to eat. Well we walked in and wasn’t greeted, I had to ask do we seat ourselves or what? Then we got seated and no one acknowledged us at all. We sat there patiently waiting and still no one came to our table, other people that came in were acknowledged immediately. So we politely got up and left. It sucks because I was really looking forward to eating there but I refuse to spend my money where it’s not wanted.

She was out waitress and fantastic table service! She was very friendly and helpful when it came to ordering. She also catered to the table but was not overwhelming with constant check ins. I had my daughter with me and she was talkitive to her as well as brought extra napkins to the table just Incase purposes

The food was good. The service was ok. We had a big party so a lot of things can be excused. Worth another visit.
