3.5 stars. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and kind. We ordered the catfish with shrimp combo with a sweet tea. You’re able to choose a side and we tried the coleslaw and hush puppies, and a side of fried okra. The catfish was battered and cooked perfectly (def give them 5 stars for the catfish) but the shrimp, hush puppies, and fried okra were overcooked, and borderline burnt. The coleslaw was fresh and delicious. The catfish was really good, and I would be willing to return to try them again. The cook might have just had an off day.

One of the best eatery places in El Paso is a hidden gem called Catfish Basket. Your order is made fresh and the customer service is top notch. I was disappointed in the quality of food. The fish was mediocre the chicken was repulsive no seasoning and steroid injected. The fries looked like a grade school child fried them. Only thing decent is the hush puppies I will never be returning and will advise others to never go there

The food from here is awesome. My mom and I loved the catfish nuggets and the fried okra we bought for dinner. We order a pound of nuggets and a large okra to feed 3 adults and one kid. Service is a bit slow when they are busy, but that is to be expected when everything is made fresh to order. There is no lingering smell or taste of fish on the other foods so you know they are using a quality oil, changing it often, and that they are not frying everything together. I will be back again soon to get more food. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family if you like high quality fish at a good price.

The catfish nuggets are crispy on the outside while flaky and tender inside. Service was good. Even though there was a line, my order was ready in a reasonable time. The pineapple coleslaw is something I will come back for time and again. This is a very popular place so don’t expect to be in and out in a jiffy. Good food takes time to be this delicious.

First off I want to start off by saying I am a regular customer this was actually one of my cravings during my pregnancy. On 10/13/25 my husband ordered the 6 piece family deal (which we have ordered numerous of times) the amount that was given was such a small amount that my family was still hungry. Like cool I get it if you want to skimp on the food for whatever reason I understand but LOWER the price that’s what’s right/fair . I really don’t know if I will be back because for 40$ in this economy that was unacceptable . Which I know this was purposely done because I asked my husband when he got in the car did the person at the register open the plates he said she didn’t which was very strange to me because if you know this place THEY ALWAYS OPEN THE PLATES IN FRONT OF YOU . Long behold when I got home I saw why she didn’t open them .

Cute little dive restaurant, with BIG flavor and great service!! The catfish, butterfly shrimp, and wings were off-the-hook! No pun intended. Oh, and the fried okra was beyond delicious and the hush puppies were spot on. This place comes highly recommended and the bonus is the owner is present to ensure you have everything you need. Stop by and try it out, you will be happy you did!

Super delicious catfish & shrimp. Ask for fried hard, it’s the best way to eat catfish. The tarter sauce needs some parsley or dill but aside from that everything was perfect.
