Yesterday, I finally visited Sudden Death in Lübeck, and it was excellent. The format of the establishment is particularly impressive: you don’t just try good craft beer, you watch the brewing process right in the hall. This creates the feeling of a lively, authentic place without unnecessary pretension.
The range is surprising — the flavours are varied and bright. From fresh, aromatic IPAs to rich dark varieties, each glass reveals itself in its own way.
The atmosphere is light and friendly, making it a great place to come with friends and relax. There is no pretension and the staff are excellent. This is definitely one of my most memorable beer spots. Thank you for the beer. Cheers

A truly amazing place. Great atmosphere, great staff and amazing beer. We had a great time. My wife forgot her grey backpack and we walked back to hopefully get i back. But no, no backpack there. So, to you who found it, enjoy and karma will find you, maybe as a bus hitting you or perhaps a bad virus slowly eating you from inside.

As an American living in Lübeck, I can officially give this brewery two thumbs WAY up on offering that authentic US brewery feeling. Not only does the wide drink selections change regularly, this place offers what I consider – and I very much stand by this statement – the best pizza in Northern Germany. As if having good food and drink isn’t enough, the staff here is absolutely the cherry on top of an already stellar experience. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. We rented out the private room for an engagement party and the team went above and beyond to make our every wish a reality. I don’t even really like beer, this I LOVE Sudden Death! (They usually have amazing ciders and wines as well, so regardless of your preferences, there is something for everyone.) I cannot recommend this place enough, make sure you check it out – you won’t be disappointed!

Sudden death specializes in the kind of big hazy IIPAs that are the hot thing in the US beer scene. This is really great that they are killing it in this style. Also I am having an imperial stout that is great too. If you are tired of German session beers, travel here and drink. They got you.

Really cool place with a great selection of interesting beers! Sudden Death Brewing makes some awesome beers, and seem to be especially talented within IPAs and funky sours. The selection from tap is great with a good variety of different styles, but however with many IPAs (but really good ones!). It is also possible to get some pizzas to eat, and the staff is delivering table service later in the evening. A great place for any beer lover!

Caught them at point when they we’re busy to the point of buckling at the knees. So service was hurt a bit. I decided to see beyond that and appreciate them for what they aim to be. Because, despite the bad timing one of the owner’s still took his time to chat between pouring Monin suryp drinks and attending to a bunch of wedding guests.
The kitchen team kept churning out pizzas like there’s no tomorrow.
Beer offering is divine obviously. Pizza delicious, while mine was a tad too burned for my taste. Portion size made it impossible to finish the charred bits anyway.
Best place for miles and miles and miles around.

This is a great place for tasting beer while in Lübeck. We ended up here being guests at a nearby hotel, the owner of which strongly recommended the place. Service is very efficient and pleasant and your waiters can take unlimited number of jokes if your German allows for it. And despite all the beer drinking going on, toilets are impeccable, at least in the beginning of the evening…

Everything was perfect! It’s truly heaven on Earth! Beer was amazing, stuff is friendly and makes you feel like at home! You should NOT SKIP this place in Lübeck. Pizza is also super delicious.
