The food was genuinely really good — flavorful, well done, and clearly thought out. Nothing felt overworked or gimmicky, just good food done right.
The atmosphere is a big win too. Cool space, great lighting, and a vibe that makes you want to actually sit and enjoy your meal instead of rushing through it.
Jenny was a great server — attentive, friendly, and easygoing without being overbearing. She made everything smooth and pleasant.
Would absolutely come back and recommend it if you’re in the area.

Im so sorry it took me so long to post this review, but life happens.
Chris went above and beyond to make my besties redo birthday a success! The food, the atmosphere, down to the service was 10/10.
The time we had was just over the top amazing.
It feels cozy but it’s big at the same time, can’t explain it, which it really why you should go and check it out bc literally one of the best experiences I’ve had at an upscale but affordable all at the same time, restaurant.
The portions BTW, super generous.
Also the flavors, definitely more on the authentic side, which to me was chefs kiss!
Thank you for a night to remember!

Wow!!! This place is so beautiful and cozy. Our waitress was Candice and she was absolutely amazing! The chips and salsas were good the green one was my favorite. We started off with Ceviche, it was one of the best I’ve had. Then we ordered Tendedero De Birria and it was delicious. The margarita was very smooth with great flavor. Lastly, Candice brought a dessert out with staff singing as we were out celebrating. It was churros with ice cream and it was to die for. I will definitely return to try more of their awesome food. The service was amazing, Evelyn was really patient and kind and attended to us really well (we were a big party and stayed after closing to pay the bill). As for the food, it was good but a bit pricey for the portions. The atmosphere was overall good if you don’t want to be in a noisy environment as you eat, and the washrooms were really fancy and clean.

I visited Taco Cartel about a year and a half ago and remembered the food being solid but the place feeling a bit worn down. What a difference now — they’ve completely renovated, and the interior is just stunning. The space feels bright, modern, and thoughtfully designed, giving the restaurant an entirely new energy. Parking remains a bit of a hassle, though. They’ve added a lot across the street from David Drive, which helps, but crossing over still feels like a bit of an adventure.
The food this time was quite good overall. My entrée could have been hotter temperature-wise, but the ceviche was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Service was attentive at first, though our waiter vanished toward the end of the meal, probably swept up in one of the four birthday celebrations happening that night. Despite that, I’d absolutely go back. Next time I plan to try a weekday evening when things are a little calmer — I suspect the experience will be even better without the Friday night rush.

The outside patio looked inviting on our way in, but inside the ambiance was unreal. By far my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. From the walls, ceiling, the bar etc. the food and drinks were all 11/10. Our waitress Jenny elevated everything to the next level, it was like she was reading our minds and brought us everything before we even had to ask. I’ll definitely be back here.

I love the details and design of the restaurant absolutely beautiful! The food was a 7/10. The birria taco display is cute! We went for taco Tuesday drinks were half off. Our server was also the host I felt bad for her because she was attending to five different tables working by herself. The owner/manager did walk around and greet us which I think is awesome.
