My husband and I had a wonderful time at the pine club this evening. We shared the porterhouse for 2 and it was amazing! It literally melted in mouth. Our server Theresa was so kind and helpful as it was our first time visiting. We do live quite far so I hope we can come back some time. I’m only taking away 1 star because the appetizers could definitely use a little updating to accommodate customers who do not like seafood as those are the only options. I do wish they had a least 1 thing to offer for dessert as well. The coffee was delicious and very homey tasting. The steak though was the star of the show!! And it paired beautifully with the bernaise sauce!

So much has already been said about the greatness of the Pine Club. From the hand-trimmed dry aged steaks to the actual pine paneling on the inside, it’s all been highly praised and deservedly so. All I can humbly do is reaffirm to you that the Pine Club remains a culinary institution in Dayton. 70+years of putting out classic steaks in a classic supper club. Not to mention the delicious sides like the creamed spinach or the succulent lobster. There’s also the extensive wine list. Really impressive. So is the bar! And the service was truly great. They are so true to their roots that they still only accept cash or checks. Or you have the option to open a house account. No credit cards accepted. No reservations taken either. As they say at the Pine Club, “good food is worth the wait”. They put a bow on the meal with an Esther Price after dinner chocolate. Go and experience the history and tradition of the Pine Club with their tender and delicious steaks. Thank me later.

It has been about 20 years since my last meal at The Pine Club and not much had changed. The service was excellent and our waitress did a great job of explaining the menu. We started with the Nantucket scallops and those really stole the show. I shared a double porterhouse with my husband and our son had the rib eye. We ordered both at medium rare but they were definitely more rare and less medium. The flavor of the double porterhouse was good but the meat a bit tough. Stewed tomatoes were excellent and I love the red/blue dressing option. Soft drinks are canned. Fantastic bar which makes a great old fashioned. The noise level is a bit high. Definitely a nice experience but not part of our usual rotation.

This place is amazing and worth the trip. Growing up, my parents used to go there for special occasions. Even though I’ve lived in Florida since I was 6, I’ve made it a point to eat there twice (as of now) as an adult. It’s hard to describe, but you need to experience it for yourself. Bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards.

I was recommended to go to the pine club by multiple people as it’s seen as the “best steak” in the Dayton area. My partner and I go on Saturday night knowing it is going to be busy so the wait was an hour and a half. I ordered a t-bone steak, house dressing salad, and hashbrowns and corn. The salad was pretty good maybe 8/10 but oh my god was the steak the worst steak I have ever had. I asked for it medium rare and it came out not even blue rare just raw. They refire the steak and it was now on the verge of being blue rare to rare. Then once again, we are all finished with our other food and had to get it refired again. It came out rare not even medium rare. How disappointed I was expecting to taste an amazing steak from an amazing cut and it turned out to be the worst steak I have ever had. All the staff had to say was they were sorry and they hope we come back to try them again. Why would I waste another 3 hours just to get horribly cooked steak again? They were kind enough to not charge us anything.

Bread was way too salty
Steak was undercooked after two refires
Potatoes were decent but taste the same as a standard texas roadhouse.
Staff was nice though.
If you want to get a nice steak, don’t go here. Waste of time for mediocre performance steak.

My hubby and I grabbed dinner with a friend tonight. I got an amazing steak and my hubby got lamb chops. We both really enjoyed our meals. This was a perfect restaurant to have great food and wonderful company.

Step back to the 1940’s for this cash-only, classic steakhouse. The waitresses are universally going for their 40-year employment anniversaries and know the menu like the back of their hand, the decor is charmingly dated like being in a museum, and the food is top quality! Caters to an older clientele for sure, but UD students can be seen here regularly too. I recommend opening a house account so you don’t have to remember cash, and they mail you a bill that you can pay via check. A unique establishment. Warning: they don’t take reservations ever, so be prepared with a plan B if they are too busy to accommodate you.

Amazing steakhouse! We had a large work party of around 15 people & they were great! The food was amazing, steak (filet) was cooked to perfection. The choices were all yummy and the staff were so friendly. Definitely would recommend this little spot for dinner if you are in the Dayton OH area. A steakhouse that’s been around 75 years is doing something right & the charm of the atmosphere was on point. It was so quaint, dark and old school!
Thank you for the experience!

ive been going to the pine club for 40 years, over the last 10 myself and family members have gone every new year’s eve, it’s a tradition…i’ve found it to have become less of a treat, the steaks are good but the salad, bread, sides are second rate…salad boring, bread awful, sides are very weak…the steak is good but not so good that it’s worth the trip…there are multiple places where i can get an excellent steak with sides to match…this last visit was particularly bad, so much that we decided against returning…service wasn’t good, environment was as usual, we were placed at a table for four even though there was. 5 of us, part of the meal didn’t show up for over 15 minutes which was really a bad look…i guess in this industry everything runs its course and quality suffers…too bad!
