The waiter was sweeping when we entered the restaurant. I asked, ‘ do you have any sweet bread or plantains ‘ he said ‘no’ so then I asked, ‘ tacos with eggs, potato and bacon’ he says, ‘ ok ‘. Once I get them I bit one of the tacos and it was the hardest and oldest bacon I had ever tasted. It was as if the bacon had been fermented for months!! So I say’s, ‘ I cannot even chew it, it is hurting my molars, ‘ so I had to stop eating after the one bite!! Next thing I see is they wanted to charge me for the plate that I had not eaten just tried it (1bite) and also they charge coffee if i wanted it to go, I guess that’s new for me! I had barely finished 2 cups one was cold to drink. Anyway we had to have an argument regarding me not charging for something I just barely tasted.
FYI; Customers be mindful the waiter does not seem to be aware of washing his hands, be on the lookout for these restaurants that are not of goodwill!!!

Local place to get the real deal. Yummy and large portions. Chips and salsa are extra and the atmosphere needs some upgrading. The outside space is nice. There were no other customers when we went and I was surprised. The food was great!

Returning to the Bastrop area from the Elgin area we wanted to get some breakfast. My wife had seen this place having made the same trip a few days before, so we looked them up online. Breakfast was served, so we stopped by. Once parked she questioned the wisdom of going in (it’s a little “rustic”!), but I convinced her we’d be in for a treat and we headed in. Did not disappoint! I had Chilaquiles and she had Huevos al la Mexicana, both were delicious, but the super stars of the meal were the hot sauces, a green and a red. Awesome. We realized it was the 5th of May while we were eating and suddenly felt a little conspicuous, but all was well, the people are friendly and we’d definitely go back.

They take credit cards now. Food is still better than any TexMex restaurant around.

Great breakfast! Inexpensive. Generous portions. It’s worth the drive out here.

Please stop by this adorable little place if you are even remotely in the area! The decor is charming and the patio is full of beautiful plants. Everything is freshly homemade and delicious. Very generous portions. Celia, our server, took great care of us! We tried the chilaquiles rojos and a bistek huarache. AMAZING!!

The best part about this place is that it’s aggressively air conditioned and the aesthetic landscaping (there’s a pond out back!). Came around 5 pm during the heat of the day and had a couple street tacos. The limes were dry and hard to squeeze, the al pastor meat was uh, ok I guess but I’m not sure they actually differentiate between the bistec, beef fajita and ground beef meats.

Excellent food here! The barbacoa de chivo was the best I’ve ever eaten and the corn tortillas made in house are perfect flavor and texture. We also tried the beef gordita which was very flavorful and the masa used was as good as the corn tortillas. My wife ordered a strawberry cucumber aguasfrescas and we were impressed how well the flavors worked together. Delicious and refreshing. The crispy tripas tacos were tasty, but had more chewiness than expected. Did i leave anything on my plate though?? Heck no
The salsa was pretty good, but could use a little more boost in the flavor department, but honestly they were good and really went well with the tacos.
We will be back for sure. Been dreaming about the Barbacoa fe Chivo ❤️

Finding good Mexican Food isn’t too hard here in Texas, but every now and again you Find a Gem like this place That sets the Standard for the rest! I often taste my food before adding S&P or Hot Sauce, and Dude, I was blown away! No S&P was needed. I did try their house Hot sauce more out of obligation than necessity, because if the food was that good the Sauce has to be too, Right!? Well Helms Yea It Was! So Yea I Definitely recommend this Joint. I will be back again as often as I can get out that direction!
