With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Highly recommend. Tried a phenomenal buffalo burger here and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. What really brought the whole experience together was the service from Lucas. He took the time to walk me through the menu, asked what I liked and didn’t like, and recommended a burger that fit me perfectly. He also checked in throughout the visit to make sure everything was good. Great food and great service all around. Definitely coming back.

Great burgers, freshly made! I love the mushroom and swiss. The fries are addicting and perfect to dip in their homemade sauces. They have huge pickle buckets! All the pickles are delicious, especially the dill. This location has exceptionally friendly service. They have a large outdoor patio and plenty of seating inside as well.

Love a grilled chicken sandwich here and the home made potato chips. The variety of pickles are awesome too. We ate at 4pm on a weekday so there was no crowd. Otherwise regular lunch hour is fine. There’s always a table but it is a popular place.

Our recent visit to here was fantastic! From start to finish, it was one of the most creative, fun, and downright delicious meals we’ve had in a long time. Let me walk you through the order so you know what not to miss.
We kicked things off with the fried pickle chips—perfectly tangy, crisp, and addictive. Next came the Freaky Fries, which could honestly be a full meal on their own. Smothered in rich, creamy queso with hatch green chilies and topped with succulent roast beef, they were nothing short of spectacular. Excellent. Just excellent.
Then came the burgers—wow.
The Jon Bon Mi Burger was a playful and tasty tribute to the Vietnamese bánh mì, full of bold, fresh flavors. But the Deez Nuts Burger stole the show. Yes, it has peanut butter cups and potato chips on it, and yes, it’s absolutely amazing. The sweet and salty combo hit every note perfectly. It’s a must-try.
A special shout-out goes to Lucas, the manager, who treated us like royalty. His enthusiasm for the new menu was infectious, and his recommendations were spot on. He made our experience feel personal and memorable.
We’ll be back. Again. And again. And again.

I have to start by saying that the service is wonderful. Everyone in the back was killing it and everyone in our group enjoyed every bite of all the burgers and stuff that we ordered (even if we couldn’t finish.) As the new Fleetwood Mac, I’m gonna suggest the fried green beans and carrots instead of fries, try the onion rings and the milkshakes. I also caution you about the homemade pickles, you’re gonna keep going back for more (perfectly crisp and i think it was 5 flavors)

I eat the turkey burger from here and it has the be one of the most flavored turkey burger out there. I bet the beef has to be delicious. One patty should do fine cause 2 patties is too much. Definitely will be going back.
