I have eaten Mexican food all over the US and Canada. I can honestly say, it’s the absolute best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten in my 55 years of life. I mean I’m speeches when I taste there food. Everything is so fresh and the good portions of food, and the service was equally impressive. The food did not take forever, and the servers are on top of it here. I’ve eaten here 3 nights in a row and am excited to taste another amazing dish from here. Just wow.

Zócalo never disappoints. The food is always fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked. The service is top tier, the staff is welcoming, and the vibe is always on point whether you’re coming for dinner, drinks, or a casual bite. Everything came out fast and tasted amazing. Definitely one of my go to spots and I’ll 100% be back!

Fish options, including Ceviche. Everything is a little pricey but worth it.
Then bean dip and salsa were very good and came with warm tortilla chips.
So nice to have a breakfast menu available until 2pm.
The green rice – cilantro rice? – was really good, and my blackened salmon bowl was delicious too! I really liked the green sauce on the salmon.. wish I could explain what it was, lol.

After attending a powerful morning service at New Season Sacramento Pastor Sam Rodriguez, I had already been fed spiritually so now, I was simply looking for something fresh, delicious, and made with quality ingredients. Zócalo University Village was the perfect choice.

We started with the classic chips and salsa, along with their creamy puréed black beans topped with grated Parmesan. Our server, Zaria, suggested we add guacamole and she was absolutely right. It was the perfect addition. Zaria was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming, attentive without being overbearing, which made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.

I had the brunch bowl with chorizo and lightly sautéed spinach. It was flavorful, hearty, and beautifully presented. I also ordered the virgin blackberry margarita, which was light, refreshing, and perfect for the warm 90° afternoon.

Every time I visit Zócalo, it feels like a treat. Great food, great service, and an atmosphere that always feels inviting. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and yes, I’ll be adding photos too!

If you like authentic Mexican food, no way u will find it here . Restaurant is very nice and great service but u pay for the luxury of the restaurant more then for good food. Maybe good for drinks but that is it.

It was my first time coming here and I didn’t know what to expect but the place seemed pretty nice. Food was good, service was great, and the place seemed kinda small though so not too much seating for a bunch of people compared to other restaurants. I had no idea how much the food was because I wasn’t the one paying. I would say reserve a table ahead of time because the place is kinda small.

The food I ordered was the Guanajuato on the enchilada section of the menu.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Graduation Dinner Experience

Had an unforgettable dinner at Zocalo University in Sacramento for my graduation with friends and family. The food was incredible—full of flavor, beautifully plated, and the drinks were just as great. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, making the whole night feel special.

They even surprised me with a complimentary churro dessert and brought it out with a candle while the team clapped and celebrated with us. That thoughtful gesture meant a lot.

The prices are a little higher, but totally worth it for the quality and experience. Highly recommend for any special occasion!

Ambiance and food are terrific. Service is also good. My only complaint is that when I make a reservation here (and this is the second time) I always include that I need a table rather than a booth due to mobility issues. Both times they have tried to direct me to a booth. The first time I was here and they took us (party of four) to a booth I told the host that I had requested a table as it is hard for me to get in and out of a booth. She told us we would have to wait another 15 or 20 minutes for a table. Puzzling as I saw vacant tables, but after she watched me struggle to sit down in the booth, she then said let me move you to a table. I told her it was too late for that as the hardest part for me was sitting down and then standing back up. Tonight, I had a 5 PM reservation for two. I had once again requested a table when I made the reservation but the host tried to seat me in a booth. There were many empty tables. She moved me to a table directly next to the kitchen that was very noisy. When the server came over I requested to be moved to a different table away from the kitchen. The server was very accommodating and moved me right away. I am unclear as to what the point is of specifically requesting a table on the reservation if they are going to ignore the request. I walk with a cane and have a pronounced limp so they can plainly see I have mobility issues. Beyond this issue of trying to be seated at a table (and not one directly next to the noisy kitchen doorway) everything else her is top notch.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. This place looks great and very clean. I so want to try their food, but they aren’t open at 11 am. I have another commitment today, and unfortunately, I will be unable to try the cuisine. Seeing that it is Michelin recognized means it should be good.
