I ordered from this restaurant for the first time through Grubhub based on their impressive 4.9-star rating on there, and I’m beyond shocked at what we received. Even the 4.5-star rating here on Google seems generous considering the state and quality of the food that was delivered to my door. This was nowhere near acceptable quality, not in the slightest.
The large cheese pizza we ordered appeared to be assembled from random slices of different pizzas, rather than being freshly made. The slices were completely inconsistent with some sections being severely overcooked with dark, burnt edges while other were undercooked with pale, doughy spots. How is that even possible? It honestly looked like they grabbed leftover slices from random old pies that were sitting under a heat lamp all day instead of making a fresh one.
For $28, this is absolutely unacceptable. My fiancé didn’t even want to eat it and I don’t blame him. The pizza was barely warm when it arrived, which confirmed my impression that this was old food being passed off as fresh.
Even worse than the pizza, the calamari. The calamari was clearly old and, you guessed it…cold! To add insult to injury it was served on wilted, old lettuce. This is a food safety concern as serving seafood in this condition could genuinely make someone sick!
It was clear that we we ordered right before closing and instead of preparing fresh food, they threw together whatever was lying around. There’s honestly NO excuse for this. As a first time customer I am appalled that they have so many 5 star reviews.
I cannot understand how this restaurant maintains such high ratings. Either we caught them on an extremely off night, or something else is going on. Either way, I CANNOT recommend ordering from here.
Oh and to the restaurant if you’re too close to closing to make fresh food properly, please just say so rather than serving customers old, potentially unsafe food at full price. Because what you have advertised on GrubHub is not what was delivered.
Came in after a drive from NC, saw my brother’s and a special someone.
So after an 8 hour drive, I was hungry.
It’s my 1st time in New Jersey. So this is my 1st stop. Driving is not as bad as I thought it would be. The scenery is actually kinda pretty, almost southern like.
This is a very small corner store, but as soon you walk in, it is almost the size of a cafe/diner.
The atmosphere was relaxing, but I did come in after like 730ish on a Sunday.
Gabby was my waitress, and she was brand new. I’ve been in that spot before. So I took my time ordering my food and didn’t want to bother or stress Gabby too much.
I wanted Chicken Marsala as I was thinking of a certain someone. So I got it to compare, a side Caesar salad and a slice of Tomato Pie.
I am glad I was slightly hungry. The chicken was tender juicy and reminded me of her cooking… no where close as hers… but I could tell their style is very close to traditional italian cooking. They pounded the chicken to a super thin filet which is something I had actually seen her do to her thick chicken as well…The mushrooms were a mix of what looked to be baby bellas and regular, slightly seared but not mushy and still had chewy texture.. There were some broccoli florets tips. Very small amount, but it was recognizable. The sauce was gravy like, but not thick…and I waited about 3 minutes, and it started to turn into a thin film of skim. So there was creme added. Maybe due to how late I came in, the marsala sauce didn’t get time to thicken enough… or maybe hers sauce was just thicker.
The slice was delicious. Never have I had such an extremely thin slice before, but this may be my new standard. It folded nicely, and I had a good sear and crunch.
I just wish I ordered more… one slice wasn’t enough. I am sad because I didn’t get to try their Mexican slice.
They served red sauce pasta on the side… which I didn’t expect. No meat, but if I did order that, I could see them serving it seperate.
The bread was freshly made. Scone shape. Sadly couldnt absorbed the marsala or Caesar sauce, but it did taste good on it own. They did serve butter tablets with them..
Gabby offered dessert and coffee. Just wanted dessert.
Never had a cannoli this small before, but it was adorable!!!… It was a small version, which was about the size of my fork tip, but the filling, chocolate, and the cookie like wafer texture were enjoying.
Good place to start in New Jersey.
Thanks for the meal!
Great food and great people! Definitely our new pizza spot!
