From a simple thoughts of treasuring family tradition and inspired by street food under one roof. Makan literally means eat. So Makanmakan means eat in plural. Or big eating/feasting. Being grew up in Asia (Indonesia in particular), eating out in a street was and is still way of life. We love to visit the center of city where the hustle and bustle happening. It’s a fun way to search great food in Tokyo alley, trying out best dishes among Hawkers center in Singapore, staying late night eating street food in Hongkong, Jogjakarta or Bali or Jakarta or Surabaya and so on. At Makanmakan, we want to bring these fond memories. Hopefully we can capture and share these experiences with our guest. Until then, selamat makan (happy eating)!

In general, not too bad. The kuehteoy, roti canai and beef rendang were quite okay. Laksa was a bit weird. Not the southern nor northern style laksa. I bet they tried to hit between those two (but it’s not possible, one is salvory one is acidic).

Authentic, fresh, and savory. Their chicken skewers in peanut sauce were delightful. The laksa noodle soup is well balanced and authentic tasting. The chef knows her stuff and love the vibe.

We tried the beef curry and firecracker chicken. I heard the goat curry was good, but didn’t see the special until after we’d ordered. Not a ton of veg involved but the flavors were so good and the service was great too. Almost didn’t get a picture again!

Came here for lunch and ordered the laksa. The flavors were amazing and really satisfying. The only downside was that my stomach felt uncomfortable shortly after I finished eating. It was temporary, but since it happened right after the meal, it was hard not to wonder if it was related to the food.

The food was bland. Which is wild for Indonesian food and it was cold.
I got the famous rendang which should be amazing but even the meat was tough. This is a beef braise so it should be slow cooked till it was fork tender and fall apart in your mouth.
Advice: please at least reheat food even if it ain’t fresh, salt and cook your beef long enough.

I had such a great experience at this restaurant! The server was incredibly kind and attentive—super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The chicken skewers were absolutely delicious. And the mango sticky rice? So good! Sweet, fresh, and just the right amount of creamy. Everything from the food to the service made the whole visit really enjoyable. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

We have been craving good Asian food down south forever!!! We usually drive to Bountiful. This was the most flavorful, delicious food we’ve had in a long time!!!
We had their wings as an appetizer. We had the Prawn dish and the Basil chicken. A bit spicy but we LOVE SPICE!! This was the BEST Asian we’ve had in such a long time!!! Great service from our waitress, she actually described so many things to us but they also have pics of every dish!!
