I have been a regular visitor to Jhopri Restaurant. Plainsboro, NJ for more than 6 months now. For me, it was like finding a hidden gem serving tasty Indian cuisine from different parts of India. After my first visit, Jhopri is my Restaurant of choice and I frequent the place atleast twice a month. Good ambience, friendly staff.
Jhopri’s takeouts are generous in serving size.
Jhopri’s Banquet Hall wired with top class audio systems with good ambience and atmosphere makes any event hosted there a success right at the start. My experience at the banquet hall has been good.
The Owners of Jhopri are patrons of music hosting musical events, karaoke sessions and are big supporters of social causes. A real-life example of a business demonstrating and fulfilling its social responsibility without fanfare or advertising. I personally experienced it.

Recently, we celebrated my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. Our guests were truly impressed by the beautiful ambiance, the delicious food, and most importantly the exceptional service provided by the staff and management.
The music( sound system) quality was amazing and added great energy to the celebration. The quality in every aspect from music to food to service was impeccable. What really stood out was the wide variety of food they offer, especially their authentic South Indian cuisine, and not just North Indian dishes. The name Jhopri can be a little misleading, but the food and overall experience speak for themselves.
Everything was handled seamlessly, making it a true one-stop destination for any special event. We had a fantastic time, and I would recommend this place without a doubt for any memorable occasion.

We had a wonderful experience dining at Jhopri. Friendly kind service with a wide selection of delicious food to enjoy. We stopped in for lunch to have their exquisite buffet. Plenty of fresh flavors to go around. Tandoori chicken and naan was one of my favorites. We ordered the samosa separately. One of the hosts was kind enough to give us a tour of their party room which offers enough space for 50 people. The main dining also can host events as well expanding up to 150 people. We will definitely come again in the future.

Jhopri, an Indian restaurant in Princeton, offers a dining experience that feels a bit underwhelming given its reputation. While some dishes were decent, the overall preparation felt “just okay” and could have been better.
The service, even on a quiet Wednesday evening with no crowd, was notably slow for a group of 6-8 people. This lack of attentiveness left a feeling of indifference that detracted from the experience.
On a positive note, the Makai Kulfi was delicious, and the non-vegetarian appetizers were fine. However, the rest of the meal didn’t live up to the high ratings it has received from other diners.
The restaurant has the potential to do much better and live up to the “king” status others have given it. It’s worth giving it another try in the future to see if the taste and service improve.

I have never had Naan this perfect!!! It’s just the right amount of crisp, soft and melt in your mouth texture. The egg curry was super delicious and went well with Naan, I would love to try it with rice next time

Had Onam sadhya lunch. All food tasted typical Kerala type. Reasonable price given that unlimited food was served on a full banana leaf and bottled water given( not tap water) though I was full in first serve itself. Sambhar , ginger-tamarind pickle-Rasam all were lip smacking and definitely recommend this place for those not gone or tasted food here

Ordered the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani on two consecutive weekends, and both times it was disappointing. What was delivered did not resemble dum biryani—it felt more like fried rice made from leftover biryani rice and chicken pieces.
The first time the restaurant kindly replaced the order, but the following weekend the same issue happened again despite calling ahead.
I’ve enjoyed this biryani here for quite awhile, so the drop in quality was noticeable. Hoping the owner looks into this, as the restaurant has always delivered great food in the past.

Great place for South Indian tiffin. Idly, vada, and uttappam were fresh and tasty, and the combo was amazing. Sambar and the three different chutneys had extraordinary flavor. Must try!
Also tried the Indo Chinese food like fried rice and noodles were very tasty. Overall, a satisfying experience.
