Social Profile:

ALMA is a Mexican restaurant at The Grove, Los Angeles, celebrating Mexico’s rich culinary history through authentic ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and modern interpretations for Angelenos. Our two-story concept brings together the best of Mexican food culture: a ground-floor walk-up taqueria and marketplace stocked with imported Mexican novelties and fresh ingredients — including hand-pressed tortillas from our kitchen — alongside a second-floor fine-dining experience serving authentic Mexican cuisine with a Southern California twist. For us, being together is the way of life. Come in, share some platillos, clink some glasses, and — most importantly — ENJOY the Mexican culinary experience.

Had dinner here midweek and really enjoyed it. They have a great selection of cocktails..we started with chips and salsa while waiting for our tacos . We sat outside, which made it even more fun. It’s located at The Grove in Los Angeles, so there’s plenty of shopping around as well.

This is a great spot to sit in people watch on a nice day. We were seated downstairs at the ground floor, but upstairs is equally beautiful. The hostess demanded that we have full meal in order to get seated which I found to be rude. The waiter was pushing for us to order food. Also, they made a point to demand that we order the full meal. We had cocktails an order of guacamole, which was really good and a Caesar salad with shrimp. The Caesar dressing lacked flavor.

Beautiful place, horrible low brow management. For a $30-50 price range restaurant, the service esp when it comes to management, is quite fast food quality and disappointing for what they advertise. I was sitting at the bar and ordered a drink and two food items (btw don’t order the ceviche careyes – they serve the ceviche in the complementary salsa cup. Yikes lol). Because the ceviche was extremely underwhelming in size and taste, I decided to order the quesabirra as I was still hungry. I told the bartender I’d eat some and take the rest to go. Moments later the manager comes over and tells me I can’t take happy hour to go. Which I thought was pretty hilarious. I didn’t realize I’d be monitored and must eat all of my food before I can leave the table. For such a beautiful restaurant it’s a shame that they have such weak service standards. Esp when it comes to management. Yikes. I don’t recommend unless you’re from out of town and want to sit in a pretty place and not really care about the food taste or service.
In a saturated restaurant market, there are so many other places you can choose from that have quality, service and atmosphere.
Do not recommend.

Had my birthday dinner at this restaurant. The view from the balcony at night is so lovely. I had the Enmoladas dish; and it is a must try! The mole sauce is authentic and rich in flavor. Very nice staff as well. They were kind enough to sing me happy birthday I recommend making a reservation ahead of your visit.

I really really wanted to like Alma but what a disappointment. $46 for three beyond I mean beyond small fish tacos, rice and beans which is extra plus a drink is just simply a crime. One, because of the small portions and two the main reason, the flavors are simple not there. I would gladly pay that $46 but give me something delicious. Not cold tacos, rice and beans. Thank you. Hope you do better, because at this rate I don’t see much future…. Cheers.

An absolutely delightful experience. Sat in the outdoor balcony, loved the beautiful lights and atmosphere. As for food, stick to the tacos. The “try 5” is absolutely the way to go. The enchiladas were just all right, although the green salsa (and, in fact, all of their salsas), were amazing with their chips.

We loved the ambience (music and fountain nearby) but the food was high/miss and service left much to be desired. Still had a good time because it was such a lovely evening to people watch though but wouldn’t come back for the food

During a recent overnight visit to California, I had the opportunity to visit The Grove. In search of a suitable location for Happy Hour, we chose “Alma Restaurant.” We were seated at the bar, where Romel attended to us; his service was truly exemplary. Despite the bustling environment, he managed to efficiently take our orders with a courteous demeanor while attending to other patrons. The cuisine was exceptional, and the support from other team members was equally commendable. The establishment is under the excellent leadership of Manager Armando. For those seeking authentic Mexican cuisine, I highly recommend Alma, which offers excellent food, beverages, and a knowledgeable, attentive staff.

What do you expect from a restaurant in the middle of a shopping center? Lots of buzz, lots of people, big crowd, outdoor dining….Great atmosphere!…. except the food. All the foods are cold. The Fajitas came out super cold & we were surprised that they would even serve it. The service took a long time. Even for the water on the table. The two $50 steaks that we ordered it was so chewy & it was worse than a sirloin. Only the Halibut was good. I’m a chef, so I’m very particular about food. If it’s delicious, I always compliment the chef but if it’s bad and terrible, I always mention it to the manager as well. And I sure did & the manager comp the Fajita dinner but it was a bad experience for us for a $400 check. Sorry but we probably won’t go there again for the price.

My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! Every time I come here, Maximo and Armando make me feel right at home. The atmosphere is perfect, the food is always delicious, and the service is truly exceptional. It’s one of those places where you can relax, enjoy amazing food, and feel like family. Highly recommend!
