Authentic Flavors, Fresh Seafood, and Warm Hospitality
Tucked away in the heart of Selma, California, La Estrella Mexican Restaurant is one of those local gems that instantly makes you feel at home. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the comforting aroma of simmering broths, grilled meats, and freshly made tortillas. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming — a true neighborhood spot where families gather, friends laugh over lunch, and regulars are greeted by name. The service is just as warm as the food — friendly, attentive, and genuine.
On my visit, I ordered the menudo con pata, and it was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, with tender tripe and pata that melted in your mouth. It’s the kind of dish that tastes like it’s been simmered all morning with care and tradition — comforting, authentic, and deeply satisfying.
My husband tried the ½ dozen oysters and a shrimp cocktail, and both were impressively fresh. The oysters were plump and briny, and the shrimp cocktail was bursting with bright, zesty flavors — perfectly chilled and full of texture. We also couldn’t resist the guacamole, which was creamy, smooth, and packed with flavor. It had just the right balance of lime and salt, making it irresistible with crispy tortilla chips.
Everything we tasted reflected freshness, quality, and authentic Mexican flavor. It’s clear that La Estrella takes pride in every dish they serve.
La Estrella Mexican Restaurant has easily become one of my favorite places to eat — not just in Selma, but anywhere. Whether you’re craving a bowl of traditional menudo, a plate of tacos, or some of the freshest seafood around, this spot delivers every time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves food made from the heart! ️✨
+ Portions are generous
+ Food was prepared quickly for a table of 7
+ The restaurant was nice and clean
– There were far too many flies buzzing around the table for my liking.
– The only tables available for larger parties are hidden away in a somewhat dingy corner
the food they sell inside s not bad, their Bolillos, birote sucks, it doesnt reflect real Mexican bolillo or birote from Mexico. La estrella needs alot of work on Birote o bolillo. but, again, oh, boy! their pan s always been the best here in fresno.
one thing, let s not get carried away eith Pan eating, unless you want belly sticking out in 6months.
