Reviews
The atmosphere is wonderfully cosy and welcoming, with a charming décor that reflects the beauty and warmth of a traditional Italian home. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, creating a lovely and inviting setting that enhances the whole dining experience.
Café Italia has a genuinely family-friendly feel. Over time, the staff have become more than just servers; they truly feel like friends. The owner is an exceptional person — kind, genuine, and always ready with a smile — which adds even more character to the place.
Prices are fair and reasonable, especially considering the quality offered.
Café Italia is a place you return to not only for the delicious food, but for the people, the atmosphere, and the beauty of the space. A true gem of authentic Italian dining. Highly recommended.
Food is wonderful and cooked to perfection. The pizzas are lovely and thin but loaded with the best toppings. The pasta is perfect and sauces so full of flavour. All very reminiscent of visits to Italy.
Portion sizes are good and prices very reasonable. The lunch time menu is highly recommended for value and a lighter bite, although the portions are still very substantial.
Afternoon tea is available (I’m yet to try) and they have a wonderful selection of deserts and ice creams, their tiramisu is one of the best I’ve tried.
Service is always fantastic, staff are always happy and friendly and seem like they’d do anything to accommodate every need.
A regular here. Booked a table for 9:00pm a week a go. We arrived just before 9pm, we were sat in the waiting area and offered drinks which we refused…. After a while we were completely ignored and noticed three families who arrived AFTER us were seated first. The manager noticed the mistake, saw us still waiting, looked straight at us, signalled to me ‘table for 3’ which i confirmed the gesture and nodded.
We were left sitting there for 30 minutes while more families were arriving little kids running around like badly behaved children with no apology, no explanation, and zero effort to correct their mistake. When one more family was seated for a table before us who arrived after us we walked out.
I appreciate it’s New Year’s Eve and busy too, but seating people who arrive after is a complete disgrace and would not happen at a professional establishment.
Utterly chaotic and a total waste of time. If you can’t manage bookings, don’t take them. Thank you for ruining our entire evening.
Absolutely embarrassing.
Edited:
I have contacted the restaurant whom have apologised and offered to comp an entire meal next time we visit. Thank you for the response. I was going to change the 1star to a 3 but perhaps i was upset when i wrote it. Since having communicated with the restaurant, I have changed it to a five star.
Thank you again for the response.
Simply the Best 🙂
The restaurant is lovely and the staff are all really smart, professional and friendly.
The food is gorgeous. I had the king prawns then spaghetti carbonara which was the best I’ve tasted, large portion so I’ve got some for lunch.
My husband had the mushrooms with pate and Gorgonzola which he said were divine then lasagna.
Lovely to see Guiseppe again and to chat with the waiters, definitely coming here again soon.
There’s also a lot of dessert options here too.
Visited Monday mid afternoon and we got 2 x 3 course meals, 2 additional sides and 2 large drinks for £60.
The lasagna was exceptional – there is also a deal on during the week for selected mains.
Will definitely be back.
