This was our first stop when we got to Pittsburgh, I hadn’t been out here for 15 years and this was close by our first hotel. I was super excited to try their food, especially the cabbage rolls! We all ordered periogies, kielbasa, and cabbage rolls.
The periogies were good, I put salt on the onions and butter. I liked the kielbasa, but it was just boiled which is good, but I prefer them grilled. However, I did really enjoy the cabbage rolls. The last place I went to in California their cabbage rolls did not hold together well, everything fell apart super easily. With these, they held up well, and the flavor was good. I should have ordered more than one!
The only downside was the atmosphere, we waited outside for our order, and this guy came up and walked over to a table and sat down next to us and kept spitting right on the floor. We had planned on eating there, outside but of course didn’t since he was just hanging around. He probably spit five or six times loudly, really coughing stuff up, which really grossed us out so we ended up leaving.

Simply delicious! We ordered the hot meat and the hot potato and cheese. So yummy and great value. Very filling too!

Terrible. I have no idea what anyone is saying when they mention liking anything from here. It’s far from homemade, and quite obviously manufactured pierogies. The filling is just a goo they squished in there, with nothing identifiable. The “sausage” meat is nothing authentic, except it’s uniquely gut wretching. And why did it come with a sea of buttery noodles?? The icing is the “pray for the president” banners. I drove out of my way to get here: My mistake! Oh and there are lots of rules. The hot food ends before the place closes. You have to eat outside. And if you get multiple perogies, you can’t get a variety: they all have to be the same type

A taste of Eastern Europe in the Strip District. The potato & cheese pierogi, fried with onions, are comfort food heaven. The cabbage rolls are also superb. It’s a tiny, no-frills counter service spot. The owners are lovely. Cash-only and worth every penny.

I feel a little under qualified to evaluate peirogies because I’m a novice eater, but I will share that we drove an hour out of our way on a trip just to try these. It was SUCH a vibe. Walk up to a window, be ready with your order because there’s probably a line so choose quickly from one of several kinds, wait on the side of the road for your order and if you’re lucky you get a table and I was HERE for it. We stuck with simple potato, and they delivered tender pastry, obviously scratch made potato filling (with lumps to prove that it’s real potato!) not overly salted. This style is served in a buttery broth of oniony soup. My dining mate tried the pulled pork platter with his and said it was great! If you’re new to pierogie and want to try the best of this style, come for the entire ride here.

Best pierogi in the Burgh, hands-down. For the last few years, I have them cater any special events I have, including my family birthday parties. The pierogi are a great size and filled really well. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience. I recommend wholeheartedly!

Really fast service they have hot food until 5pm or so and they sell cold food anytime. The stuffed cabbage is the best I have ever had. Their pierogies are so filling, 4 are honestly enough. I got the #1 platter and it lasted 2 meals tbh.

Polish ancestry? Hungarian ancestry? Croatian ancestry? If so, you will likely enjoy the food from this business. There is too much black pepper for me though, in the haluski and stuffed cabbages. Hot or frozen fresh hand-made pyrogies are available, and the butter-onion mixture on the potatoe & cheese flavor is flavorful if you like onions. On a recent order, i got a dozen potatoe and cheese with no onions…thinking that the melted butter would still be on the dumpling….no, that was not the case. They were good still and did not stink up the vehicle for days from the onion odors, but the butter was missed when i ate them hot from the store. The live ferns and little tables and chairs help make the roadside stop bearable, but the dumplings are really what most people stop for and they are one of the best made in the area, in my opinion.
