Experience “Old Florida” at this restaurant right around the corner from Marjorie Rawlings Historic State Park. Some foods on the menu are what people would have eaten back in the day. The food was delicious and fresh. Our waitress was friendly and made sure we had refills when needed. I tried the Sour Orange Pie which was delicious!

What a quaint little place to eat and stay at their Cabins. It’s like staying in an old fashion Florida Fish Camp! The restaurant has a great menu and wonderful food. The Yearling was a 1938 Pulitzer Prize winning novel and was also made into a movie staring Gregory Peck and Jane Wyman.
This place is FAR from fancy . . . but was such a great place to relax and rest halfway on our way to visit our daughter in FL. We wanted a place to stop and break up our 12 hour drive from Tennessee and enjoyed our dinner and overnight stay there.

Make look sketchy on the outside but it’s rich wood , lively bar and old books welcome you inside. Food tasted great. I’m picky about grits and these passed the test. There weren’t different lunch vs dinner prices that I could tell. For lunch, it was a little pricer than we expected. Tempted to try the sour orange pie that is made there but went with key lime made at Mikes pies instead. It was alright. If you’re seated in the front area, be sure to stroll to the restrooms to check out the books and huge gator in the back.

Everything single item we had was the best version of it. I drove 2 hours from Atlantic Beach to go here and it’s well worth it. No item is bad, it’s all delicious. If you have any doubts about coming here, don’t.

We stayed at the cabins for one night, and immediately went to eat here. Zoey was our server. She indicated it was her first night serving, and she did a good job. Incredibly sweet!
I knew I was going to have those fried green tomatoes, and OMG, they are the best I have ever eaten. The breading was perfect. Not greasy.
Even though an order of hush puppies isn’t listedon the menu, we were able to order some. Again, not greasy and awesome batter.
Husband had the shrimp and grits and “very southern” sides. I had the small order of fried shrimp.
Everything tasted delicious. I don’t eat fried food very often, and it didn’t bother me afterwards, either.
Incredible to wander around the restaurant perusing the books and memorabilia.
Last pic is the cabin we stayed in that night. Very comfortable. Would do this again.

A trip back in time to old Florida. They have a Florida Fish Camp vibe. The fried clams were delicious (these are the only types of restaurants I ever order them because you know they do it well!).

Definitely worth a visit!

Such an amazing place. Every time we go to Florida we go there. The tour through the old property is a must do. The food is incredible. It’s surprisingly affordable to eat there.

Wonderful experience and excellent food representative of classic Florida cuisine. A beautiful place and a chance to step back in time to visit old Florida and the area where the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings novel was written.

One of my top favorite restaurants in the entire state of Florida for its “old Florida “ charm, friendly staff, antique/vintage decor, local history and books for sale, stage for live music, and of course, the food. I got the steak burger, and man was that burger GOOD. So much flavor and one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

We happened upon this restaurant after visiting the nearby state park, so we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was good, portion size was perfect and the staff was friendly and attentive. I will definitely stop in here again.
