Came for dinner today . The food was so bad. . The worst food I ever had in Melbourne. Ordered rumali roti but got Cole’s wrap instead. Someone tell chef to learn how to make rumali roti. Seriously disappointed from this restaurant. Will never come here again

Absolutely loved this place! One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve tried in Australia so far. The food was full of authentic flavours and tasted just like proper Indian home-style cooking. We ordered butter chicken, naan, and biryani, and everything was fresh, well-spiced, and perfectly cooked.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even though the restaurant was busy. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, great for both family dinners and going out with friends.
Portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable for the quality and taste. If you’re craving real Indian food in Australia, this place is definitely worth visiting. I’ll surely be coming back again!

Last Friday, I visited Taste of Taj with my friends, and as always, the food was really good and we enjoy coming here often. However, one staff member named Prachi did not provide good service and showed an attitude and threw food onto table when I spoke to her politely, which made the experience uncomfortable, and I mentioned this to another staff member whole things about her. I am sharing this feedback only because we are regular customers and appreciate the restaurant and other staff members , but her behavior should be kind and professional as well as I visited again and the same staff member behaved the same way even after I warned her during my last visit, so next time I may need to bring this to the manager attention.

Taste of Taj is our go to for authentic North Indian / Punjabi food , it’s a Takeaway once a week as the whole family enjoys the food , I do go in for lunch sometimes on my days off. Great service and the food tastes the same even after 18 years.

We hosted our daughter’s 5th birthday party at the newly opened Taste of Taj Banquet Hall, and it was a wonderful experience. The venue is a perfect size for a gathering of around 60 people.
The service was excellent, with the owner, Gagan, personally ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the event. Our guests were full of praise for the venue, the attentive staff, and the quality of the food.
We were very impressed with the overall arrangements and would highly recommend this space for birthday parties and other celebrations.

Idly and sambar very horrible, frozen chutney with a stain plate and barely I didn’t eat and you can see around the plate . At first I thought it may be oil but I scraped it with my nail it’s overtime food stain , unwelcoming staff. Food on its own is terrible I order takeaway too masala dosa and coconut rice. Poor service and bad ideas going. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I have been coming here for close to 10years amd I have never been disappointed – this place is truly a gem….it’s just like home – simple homely place, the food is light – not overly oily, not overly spicy, traditional, authentic and just like home cooking. Tried Taste of Taj recently and was quite impressed with their thali options! Both the veg and non-veg thalis were generous in portion and packed with flavour . The curries were well-balanced and aromatic, and the variety on the plate made the meal feel wholesome and satisfying.
I also tried one of their desserts, and it was a sweet finish to a hearty meal . A great spot for a filling and tasty Indian meal. Will definitely be back!

Food is nice. Please triple-confirm the meal with their staff. Sometimes they understand something different when we ask for a specific item from the menu. if the wrong meal comes out and we question it, the staff tend to act a bit unprofessional and don’t really know how to handle it, so best to be super clear upfront.
