Since 1967 the arguments ebbed & flowed, and eventually everyone just moved on to drinking and laughing together. The quintessential American dive bar. The next chapter was a ground up 15 month renovation under new owners in 2013. More than forty-five years later, we honor the tradition of the original ethos and, even late at night, dive to that legacy. Yet we think that the Hawk is ready to move on from ’67… make our own mark… honor the past…make it ours. The menu looks to our heritage, and celebrates it with real food. Our food comes from farms and ranches that do it old school, like Mother Nature intended.
Farm-fresh, upscale pub grub, plus brews & wine turned out in spacious, industrial-chic surrounds.

We found Hawk ‘n Dove on Google Maps at the end of a day full of walking, museums and sightseeing. So glad we stopped in.
Great food, atmosphere and music. We heard several songs including some Kings of Leon, Sublime, Incubus and
Edwin, our server, was friendly and helpful with the menu. It was relatively slow as could be expected since it was a Monday during the shutdown.
We had drinks and spilt two meals; the Hot Honey Pepperoni & Sausage Pinsa and the Spicy Pickle Brine Fried Chicken Sandwich (long name with even longer flavor. lol).

A lovely experience for once I decided to have dinner solo. The welcome was warm, and the dishes I ordered were delicious (though I’d vote for a little less salt). I had the pleasure of going upstairs afterward for the karaoke session and never felt excluded at any moment. I truly enjoyed it.

Food was great! Service was horrible. It took them an hour to get us our food. And in between that time they actively avoided our table. No reassurances that the food was being made or anything like that. The people before us received and finished their meals after we had ordered, and the people after us had received and ate most their meals by the time our food arrived. We think it was bc our friend ordered a specific menu item, but if it’s going to take that long the waiter/waitress should have notified us of that. And maybe not avoided us for a full hour.
The vibes are good though, nice and a great place to rest especially after walking all day. However it was super cold inside. By the time you’d get used to the temperature again the door would open and you’d be back shivering. At least the food tasted good!

Hawk n Dove is such a good restaurant to go to! The food is delicious, atmosphere is ok, and service was very good. The only problem I have with this restaurant is that there was no Diet Coke . The crab dip was out of this world! Four stars!

Didn’t eat but stopped by for a drink. Great pub feel and very friendly staff. We opted for the specials and had super tasty margaritas. Looks like a good spot to watch a game but we were mid day and no events were on.

Dashed in here for a quick bite after some sightseeing. We had a group of three with one of us being a vegetarian. Menu options for a vegetarian are limited. Grassroots Burger your best option. I had the All American Burger which was good and the chips, very good. The other member of my group had the Shepard’s Pie which she enjoyed as well. The food is average at best but will do in a pinch if you are hungry. The side of the restaurant where we were seated had a very musty smell that was almost overpowering, almost. Service was good and the place had a good vibe. Beer selection is OUTSTANDING, I might be persuaded in going back again.

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to watch the Auburn game in the DC area, Hawk and Dove is it—especially when teamed up with the DC Metro Auburn Club. What an incredible experience from start to finish.

The atmosphere was electric… a sea of orange and blue, great food, great drinks, and even better fellowship. It felt less like a bar and more like being surrounded by old friends. The camaraderie and spirit made the Iron Bowl atmosphere unforgettable.
If you want a place with amazing energy, great service, delicious food, and the best Auburn family vibe in the DC Capitol Hill area , then the Hawk and Dove is the place to be. Already looking forward to the next game!

Christine assisted me throughout the evening, she was absolutely FANTASTIC. Very attentive, personable, and knowledgeable. She gave stellar recommendations as it was our first time dining here. From the specials to accommodating my request for nachos “my way” (chips and cheese lol). She was great. Thank you Christine! Can’t wait to visit again 🙂 btw, the Pumpkin Espresso Martini and the Bartender Creation drinks were OUTSTANDING!
