LITERALLY BEST BBQ IN KNOXVILLE, dare I say the whole state of Tennessee…hmmm … Must order the Brisket Balls, Brisket, and Smoked Wings!! I’ve never been a fan of okra or brussel sprouts, Barrelhouse Gypsy did it right!!! I actually liked them!! I will say, they were running out of food as people were ordering because they are for real THAT DELICIOUS. A worker named Freeman was an absolute gentleman! He made sure we were taken care of, as we were out of state. The food was so good that when we left, we turned the car around and came RIGHT BACK to order more for the road! The next time I pass through I’m definitely coming back, that’s if I don’t make a trip JUST to get food from Barrelhouse! And it was a nice setup inside! I even believe they were hosting a fundraiser event for sheltered dogs which was the cherry on top!

I dont know how we have lived in Knoxville so long and have not been here before.
As soon as we walked in – I had a feeling I was going to love it.
Qy quickly greeted us and helped pick some ciders out and took our food order.
Then the food came – SO GOOD. You know if mid meal you are planning to come back and try more its good.
This is definately a new favorite for us. Affordable food, great drinks and AMAZING service. (Thank you again Qy!!)

I got the blackberry queen pork sandwich with fried okra and the apple butter drifter cider. Qy took our order and was so nice and fun to chat with. Qy suggested the cider and it was amazing. Smooth and sweet. So good. I don’t love the pickles because they are a bit sweet but that’s not a big deal. The sandwich and the okra were delicious. Highly recommend everything.

If you are a nacho lover. I dont recommend getting them here. Smallest portion of nachos I’ve ever been served the bbq on thr picture.. we put there, otherwise pretty dry… They were out of every single app besides the nachos we ordered. (Its 5pm on a Monday) meat was cold coming out.. decent flavor for barbecue.. we are from Iowa, so it’s not like the bbq is hard to beat.. atmosphere is chill, people are okay.. pry the least friendliest and welcoming plsce we have stopped in all of Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and Arkansas… and thats saying something coming from someone that doesnt like a whole lot of conversation herself…fried green tomatoes are good. Not a single person came and asked us how our food is or if we need anything, the whole time we were there though. All around disappointed for the 4.9 review.

Milli was awesome and took great care of us for our first time at Gypsy. She was super friendly and went out of her way to answer our questions, we highly recommend buying a bottle of the Vanilla Bourbon Mead that stuff is crazy. Thank you Milli for the awesome service, we will be back!

Our server, Qy, was great! Many, many ciders to choose from and if you’re unsure, they will let you try a small sample. Food was very good. My wife and I both enjoyed it and will be back.

The drink menu has primarily ciders, but also a few meads and a several beers. I went for a pretty standard beer, no complaints there.
For food, you order at the bar. Prices are ok and I enjoyed my meal. The pit master rolls were very good, as was the brisket dipping sandwich. I can also recommend the mac and cheese as a side
When I was there it wasn’t super busy, but we were there fairly early. They have a quite a lot of space, so it can definitely fit a lot of folks, or you can find a quieter place to talk.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
