I lived in South Florida, which is essentially “New York South”, for many years before coming to NC, and was married to a Jewish woman for a long time, so I learned appreciate and discern good deli food. I grew to enjoy am everything bagel lightly toasted with cream cheese, Nova, red onion, and capers. It has been a long time since I’ve had one of the beauties in a restaurant. Well, NYBD came very close to what I would call a perfect bagel. The bagel itself had the perfect texture and chewiness; the cream cheese was, well, cream cheese; they actually had capers; and they had “Nova Lox”. However, I must say that the lox was very stringy and hard to eat. Not a good quality of lox. But other than that it brought back a lot of memories. I also got a knish, but it tasted like a pancake. To be fair, I haven’t had a good knish in South Florida lately either. I guess I’ll just have to wait and get one in NY some day. The atmosphere is fun here, too, it really feels like a legit NY establishment.

Just tried this place for the very first time and I’ve been here for four years. I had the asiago bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It was amazing. The atmosphere was great. Service was great very quick but the bagel so yummy and they piled the cream cheese on.! 🙂 very satisfying!

My normal bagel place wasn’t open so a friend and I went here to check it out. Both of us were very disappointed. First off, a bagel only costs $1.65. You want cream cheese with that though? Pay another almost $4 for Philadelphia cream cheese. Not joking, literally watched them take it straight from a tub of Philadelphia from the store. After marketing it on their signs as gourmet… I’d maybe be willing to pay that if it were actually gourmet or shop-made. The portion of cream cheese was somewhat modest, for that price I’d expect them to at least put it on both sides of the bagel. The bagels themselves were also a disappointment. Maybe only minor step up from a grocery store bagel. Inside tasted and had the consistency of a soft pretzel, cased in an overly chewy crust.

Highly recommend this spot if you love good quality NYC bagels. We tried two different bagels and would go back again to try more. The Pastrami & cheese in garlic bagel was PHENOMENAL and the everything bagel with honey walnut cream cheese was delicious as well. Next week we try more

Honestly, the bagels are good, but it is overpriced for what you’re getting. I ordered strawberry cream cheese under the impression that they made their own, and they pulled out a tub of Philadelphia cream cheese, and then proceeded to charge me four dollars to use that cream cheese. Very frustrating to be up charged for something that they don’t make it at the store, and I would’ve rather bought my own bagel and gone to get my own cream cheese if I had known. All in all, I paid $6.50 for a bagel with premade strawberry cream cheese, I will not be returning. They also did not have enough cream cheese left, so she told me they gave me all that they had, but it doesn’t even cover the full bagel.

This place was fantastic. I’m from New York and I’m always skeptical when I see “New York” plastered on things since the quality always dubious.
I didn’t get here for breakfast; I went for lunch, and I think it was a big mistake, because the bagel I type I wanted, an egg bagel was sold out. This seemed like really good sign that the quality was great.
I was not disappointed. The garlic bagel and the jalapeno bagel that I had was excellent, and the cream cheese was also great.
You could come here for bagels alone, but my friend ordered from the deli side and for the price, the food looked fantastic. He also got a pastry that was very good.
I highly recommend New York Bagel and Deli. I’ll have to come back to get the egg bagel I missed.

I just popped in for a snack, but I wanted to leave with a sandwich and bag full of pastries, cannolis, and cheesecake! They were already out of a lot of bagels by 1:00, but the service was good! It really did remind me of a bagel shop in NYC.

Found this place by accident coming off I-40 this morning… oh, man. Best bagels I’ve had in the south, far and away. Had a bacon, egg and cheese and it was as advertised. Best in NC. Definitely found a new stop anytime to or from Raleigh. Highly recommend. Crew there was welcoming, fast, friendly.

I was in this morning.. ordered 2 sesame bagels..1 Taylor ham,egg and cheese..1 ham and egg. I received 2 rye bagels with ham and cheese. Since they wrap it prior to giving it to you I trusted my simple order was correct. When I got home, brewed my coffee and we opened the wrappers is when we saw the error… really on a simple order and not that busy??!!!
