Bestie and I made a day out of going to these restaurants, it was a blast! Each one has a fantastic vibe and cheeky wit to their advertising and decor. We started with Flock Shop, and a tricked out Bloody Mary And enjoyed a the Crispy Nugs (Dark Meat So Flarvorful!). We tried every sauce and even a mixture of them our bartender recommended! From there I tried Willy Taco for the first time (Will not be the last!) and caught it during happy hour. The happy hour includes appetizer options too! We had the Cadillac Margarita, the brisket egg rolls (with mac and cheese inside!), and the chips and salsa (salsa was so flavorful and put most other restaurant’s salsa to shame!) and we were shocked at the low bill! We later moved on to Fr8yard, they had a theme night as it was Friday the 13th, DJ Nuvo was laying down jams that fit the crowd which is saying something as the crowd included a sorority on the private event area upstairs, grandma dancing in her wheelchair stage side and little kids dancing like no one’s watching while attempting to play cornhole. We had some great drinks and enjoyed the vibes (and people watching), and before we left read about all the Spartanburg landmarks they have set up on the mini putt putt (learned something too). We Headed to Venus Pie after this to check out the new Venus Arcade. We have loved this place for awhile but it has gotten even better with this partnership! The impressive beer collection had me once again trying something I never hear of and our server Lisa was answering questions about so many interesting sounding beers like a champ! We got in the arcade and took over some high scores for a few favorites (Donkey Kong, Galaga, and Centipede). Finished off with the biggest slice of pizza I’ve ever seen with an extra side of their fantastic marinara for dipping (seriously it’s fire) and vibed with the kitchen watching them throw and spin the dough all while dancing and vibing. Each of these places are so special and have fantastic menus, atmosphere, tongue in cheek advertising (gonna have to get the Galaga style Venus Arcade t-shirt) and create a laid back yet engaged atmosphere that promotes community. These are some of my favorite places in Spartanburg and it was such a great time making a day out of checking them all out. Seriously, best spent day off I’ve had in a long time!
